THE DMA EXPERIENCE

Founded in 2002 by technology educators from Stanford University, and led by former Stanford educators and interactive education and entertainment creators from Apple and Walt Disney Studios - Digital Media Academy delivers a world-class digital learning experience.

Learn video game design, iPhone and iPad App development, Google Android app development, robotics, computer programming using Java or C+++, digital filmmaking, digital photography, website design, 3D modeling, animation and so much more.

Beginning to advanced student campers age 6-18 learn by doing with hands-on instruction from industry professionals, with real-world experience. DMA builds and develops STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills - many of DMA’s instructors have literally written the book on the subject that they teach. DMA Alumni include television and music producers, filmmakers, professional photographers as well as game and app developers.

At DMA, students experience life on the campus of a prestigious American university like Stanford, Harvard or UCLA (just to name a few) while making friends and learning with others who share the same interests. Small class sizes (8:1 max) guarantee a personalized experience. Students work on their own personal project in every class.*

VFS’s Acting Summer Camp for Teens is an intensive five-day introduction to on-camera acting for teens, ages 13 – 16, as developed by VFS’s acclaimed Acting for Film & Television program. Led by Mattie Shisko, an Acting instructor with over 17 years of experience, this program will immerse students in all the major areas of acting for film and television, such as: Scene Study, TV Commercials, Improvisation, Monologue, Script Analysis, Voice Over/Animation, and more. Students will also gain hands-on experience crewing, writing, and rehearsing with other participants in a fun, creative environment. Along with supervised lunch hours (lunch provided), everyone will come away with a DVD of their work, as shot in class and on location. Register early, as there are a limited number of spaces.

3. The Cultch's Summer Youth Performing Arts Intensive - Create and collaborate with the artistic directors of Vancouver's leading independent performing arts companies!

Vancouver has a rich and diverse independent performing-arts community known internationally for its innovation. This is your opportunity to work with leading members of that community and learn exactly what it takes to bring a new production to a professional stage.

Participants will form performance groups that will work in collaboration with our faculty of expert mentors to create an original multi-disciplinary work. Along the way the young artists will be given unprecedented access to professionals in the industry to which they aspire.

The program ends on August 27th with the world-premiere of the student’s work in The Cultch’s beautiful, state-of-the-art Historic Theatre.

The Cultch’s expert staff and members of several indie arts and culture organizations in Vancouver will lead a series of six unique workshops throughout the camp. These workshops will provide invaluable skills and offer essential information that all budding young artists need to know.

- Marketing and Promotions
- Talking to the Media
- Professional Standards in the Performing Arts
- How to be Your Tech Staff’s New Best Friend!

Vancouver Film School is offering young actors an opportunity to develop their on-camera acting skills for 5 days in a fun and exciting workshop environment. Under the guidance of top youth acting coach, Mattie Shisko, attendees will experience the VFS Acting for Film & Television program’s approach to the craft, from basic acting fundamentals to audition techniques, improvisation, and much more! Workshops for Pre-Teens (ages 9-12) are three hours long and include a snack, while Teen workshops (for ages 13-17) run for six hours and include a lunch. All actors will receive a DVD copy of their on-camera work.
