COURSES
DMA offers day and overnight courses in weekly and multi-week sessions for youth, age 7-18. DMA courses accommodate a wide variety of digital media interests in a more sophisticated learning environment than other summer computer camps. All courses are project based and taught by accomplished professionals who have a passion for inspiring young minds. An average student to instructor ratio of 6 to 1 allows for plenty of individual attention as students explore, create and immerse themselves in an environment that is more like a production studio than a classroom.

THE TEEN EXPERIENCE
DMA’s teen courses for 2009 include Robotics, Digital Filmmaking, 3D Animation, Web Production, Programming, and Music and Video Production - just to name a few.
Teens may commute or stay on campus in university housing. Separate DMA couselor staff live in the dorm coordinating evening and weekend activities while ensuring a fun and safe experience for everyone. Teens living on campus receive breakfast, lunch and dinner in a university dining hall. Commuting students may purchase a dining hall lunch pass or buy their own lunch at one of several restaurants on campus.

THE YOUTH EXPERIENCE
DMA’s 2009 youth courses (called Digital Media Adventures) include Robotics, Digital Filmmaking, Game Creation, Web Design & Flash, Cartoon & Comic Book Creation and Surfing & Filmmaking. To create a more balanced experience, we incorporate outdoor recreation breaks throughout the day – we beleive, like you, that kids should move! Additional activities, such as sports, board games and weekend adventures are offered to youth in our residential program.

2. Guitar Workshop Plus...Bass, Drums, Keyboards, & Vocals - The ultimate experience in music education. We offer courses for all levels, ages, and styles in guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and vocals. Professional faculty and world-class guest artists teach and perform. One and two week sessions available. Resident and non-resident tuitions are available.

At Guitar Workshop Plus we possess a strong commitment to music education. We offer students a unique setting for intense musical and personal growth. Join us this summer and treat yourself to a fun and educational music-filled week!! Courses are offered for all levels, ages, and styles including blues, jazz, rock, acoustic, and classical. Bass, drum and keyboard classes are offered as well. Each day consists of morning and afternoon classes that involve a hands-on approach, late afternoon clinics, ensemble performances, and evening concerts. Professional faculty and world-class guest artists teach and perform. Past artists include Joe Satriani, Alex Lifeson, Robben Ford, Paul Gilbert, Randy Bachman, John Scofield, Billy Sheehan, John Abercrombie, John Knowles, and many others. 3. Hope Bay Bible Camp - Located on beautiful Pender Island where the real adventures happen

Summer is nearly here at Hope Bay Bible Camp. We will have more archery, pelletry, sports, hiking, swimming, canoeing, fencing, crafts, games, and skits. Join us for a week of adventure and games while making new friends and creating new memories!

4. Victoria Conservatory of Music - Music Discovery Camp - August 11-15, 18-22, 9am-3pm. 1 or 2 week day camp of musical exploration. Ages 7-12. Includes choir, musical theatre and instrumental lessons: flute, clarinet, trumpet, classical guitar, violin, cello, piano or creative composition.

Summer Music Discovery Camp
August 11-15 & 18-22, 2008
9:00am – 3:00pm
We are excited to invite you to the Victoria Conservatory of Music for the 2008 Summer Music Discovery Camp taking place in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. This one or two week-long summer camp lets children ages 7-12 explore exciting options available in music in a fun and educational setting. Often, this is a child’s first hands-on exposure to classical music and gives them a chance to discover which aspects of music resonate most with them. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to try playing a variety of instruments before enrolling
in lessons or a school band program. Children have the opportunity to sing in a choir, participate in musical theatre and learn two different instruments per week. All instructors are high-level professional musicians with strong
backgrounds in both performance and teaching.

Students choose two of the following per week:

• Cello
• Classical Guitar
• Piano
• Creative Composition

Music Discovery Camp Concerts

It’s a Music Discovery Camp showcase of student talent! Come and see what the students have learned over the past week as they perform for the first time on their instruments and present a mini musical theatre production!

Child Care
Child care is available at a cost of $15 per hour from 8-9 am, 3-4 pm, and 4-5 pm. Family child care rate is $20 per hour for two or more children from the same family.

Application Information
Full Camp Fees
One week: $300
Two weeks: $575
That’s $10 an hour or less for an amazingly fun and educational musical experience!
A non-refundable application fee of $25 will apply to full camp fees only.

Individual Component Fees
Some components can be taken as individual classes, subject to enrollment. Full time campers have priority.

Musical Theatre
One week (10 hours): $180
Two weeks (20 hours): $350

Instrumental Classes/Choir
One week (5 hours): $90
Two weeks (10 hours): $170

Application deadline: July 11, 2008
Registrants applying after the deadline will be accepted if space is available. Please note: Each instrumental class has limited space and instruments are assigned based on enrollment as of the application deadline. To ensure that you receive your top choices, please apply early!
