Angelus Oaks Summer Camps

Located in the San Bernardino National Forest near Big Bear Lake, Camp Conrad-Chinnock offers a recreational, social, and educational opportunities for youth with diabetes and their families.

At Camp Conrad-Chinnock, having diabetes is the norm. Campers, medical, and program staff share friendship and support. Campers are taught diabetes self-management skills in a fun and, interactive, and safe environment. Our program includes water activities in a heated pool, arts and crafts, nature activities, archery, a 35-foot activity adventure tower with high ropes, rappelling, rock climbing, and vertical “playpen”, hiking, theme days, lake canoeing, volleyball, basketball, and mountain biking along with medical education and encouragement toward self-awareness.

The purpose of camp is to:

1) To give young people (ages 7-17), living with Type 1 diabetes, the opportunity to gain understanding of their condition and make necessary adjustments to live a full, active, and independent life.

2) To give families living with child(ren) with diabetes (ages 2 17) the opportunity to meet together and learn how to deal with the physical and emotional challenges of diabetes.

We are a Jewish resident camp located in the San Bernardino Mountains. We help campers gain personal independence, build self confidence, make new friends and of course, have fun. Our program features a 40 foot climbing tower, ROPES course, mountain biking, nature, sports, horseback riding, ceramics, arts and crafts, theater, dance, fm radio station, swimming , snorkeling, canoeing, fishing, video production, photography, and much more. Special programs include a Maccabiah, carnival, out-of-camp trips, skit nights and talent shows. Campers prepare Shabbat services and we also provide Israel Day and Tisha B’av observances. Our kitchen is kosher. A salad bar is available at lunch and dinner. Cabins are heated and include bathrooms and showers. Sessions are broken down into 2, 3, 5, or 7 week options. We also offer a 10-day "Taste of Camp" option for campers entering grades 2-6.

Camp Nawakwa, proudly owned by Camp Fire USA - Mt. San Antonio Coucil, wants to see you at our next session of resident camp.  We'll go canoeing, sing camp fire songs, roast marshmallows, compete in archery, climb our huge rock wall, and swim in our heated pool (the largest on the mountain)!  And all under the supervision of our certified staff.  Our sessions start in July.  We've got our bags packed already, do you?  For more information and registration, please call our "winter" office or send us an email.  See you soon!
