SIERRA FRIENDS CAMP: (age 9-14) Features weekly camping trips to rivers, farms, and mountains. The programs focus on community building, stewardship of nature, and values of peace and sustainability.
Activities include games, hiking, swimming, singing, art, campfires, drama, rope-swings, sports, garden and nature, and camping under the stars.
Food at camp is local, organic, vegetarian-friendly, and delicious.
The small size (40 campers per session) and friendly atmosphere make it ideal for first-time campers, and of course many kids return year after year.

WOOLMAN TEEN LEADERSHIP CAMP: (age 15-16) is an adventure, service and leadership program for teens. The two week trips include hiking, swimming, camping, biking, team-building, and service-learning.

Work-trades and financial aid are available to all. As a nonprofit one of our goals is to ensure that everyone gets to experience the outdoors this summer, and not let cost be a barrier. You do not need to be "low income" to get help from us with your tuition.

We are proud to be affiliated with Friends (Quakers), who uphold values of equality, integrity, peace, and unity with nature, and have a long history of excellence in education. We are not, however, a religious education camp; we welcome people of all backgrounds, and encourage open discussion of all beliefs (spiritual, political, etc) without upholding one ideaology over any other. Our Quaker values are expressed in the way we treat all people with respect, foster healthy community, and teach children about peace and environmental sustainability. Quaker spirituality at camp is manifested in the moments of silent thanks we share before each meal, and in how we start each day with a few minutes of silent reflection.

What distinguishes this summer camp from other summer camps?

Location. Nestled on the peaceful headwaters of the North Yuba River among 200' fir trees as old as America, this ACA accredited overnight summer camp is adjacent to the spectacular Sierra Buttes, where from the summit on a clear day you can see 100 miles, and the incredible Lakes Basin Recreation Area, which has over 70 pristine mountain lakes and miles and miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. The natural beauty is incomparable, the variety of destinations hard to beat. Your camper will stay interested and engaged for however long s/he chooses to stay. No one gets bored here!

Size. With just 70 campers permitted to enroll, your child won't get lost in a crowd and will hopefully make friends that will last a lifetime!

Activities. Our focus on noncompetitive, team-based activities frees your child to have fun, gain skills and build self-confidence without fear of whether they're "good enough" to be picked for a team, or what the other campers will think of them after a competition or game. We operate on the "Challenge by Choice" philosophy. Your camper chooses in which activities to participate and how far they want to go with them. We supply the guidance and encouragement! What would you attempt, if you knew you couldn't fail?

And we're so confident in our program that if your child doesn't have fun, we'll refund your tuition! (Call the camp or visit it's web sie for details.)

See you this summer!
