CORE CONSERVATORY is a full day theatre workshop for students ages 8 and up who are interested in developing their theatre skills. A Conservatory day runs from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. In the morning, Conservatory focuses on classes in acting, voice, and movement. The skills students learn in class will then be applied to afternoon rehearsals for a show that will be presented publicly on the last two days.

JUNIOR CONSERVATORY is a half-day program for 5 to 8 year olds. Students are introduced to the concept of making plays, theatre basics and imagination exercises and present their short play to family members on the final day of Conservatory. Whether in Core or Junior Conservatory, students learn a great deal about what it takes to make great theatre!

In 1945 Frank and Josephine Duveneck turned their 1,600-acre wilderness preserve and organic farm into Hidden Villa Summer Camp. Ever since, Hidden Villa Summer Camp has been nurturing relationships between people of different cultural, religious, economic, and racial backgrounds, as well as strengthening their connections to the environment. We continue to inspire our campers with a sense for natural beauty, tools for multicultural community building, commitment to social justice, and confidence to make positive change in the world. Hidden Villa is much more than a traditional camp. Besides our celebration of diversity, our campers can also enjoy milking a cow, spinning wool from our sheep, harvesting fresh organic produce from our garden, as well as traditional camp activities of swimming, hiking, storytelling, or crafts. Our counselors are extraordinarily committed people who reflect the diversity of our camp participants. Special emphasis is placed on respecting and caring for each other—and the environment—in everyday camp life. Each day we have thoughtful discussions and periods of reflection. We intentionally hire staff who can create a place where everyone can develop confidence and experience a sense of belonging while making friends and having fun. Finally, all staff participate in an intense hands-on training program that includes CPR and First Aid training to ensure the safety of our campers. We love working with young people, and we also take our responsibility—to them and to their families—seriously.
