Camp Woolman is an overnight outdoor adventure camp for 9-16 yr old boys and girls. We have programs for 9-14 yr-olds (aka Sierra Friends Camp) and for teens 15-16 (aka Woolman Teen Leadership Camp).
Located next to the wild and scenic Yuba River and Tahoe National Forest, Woolman is a fantastic place to spend the summer. The 230 acre campus includes sports areas, a swimming pond, hiking trails, a garden, beautiful cabins, wonderful people and so much to explore!
MINI CAMP: (age 6-9) A wonderful opportunity for young campers to get an appropriately-lengthed slice of the action! This program runs for two days and two nights and packs both full of activities, fun, connection and play. Plus our max capacity is half of normal, so our young campers enjoy even more counselor attention.
SUMMER CAMP: (age 9-14) Features weekly camping trips to rivers, farms, and mountains. The programs focus on community building, stewardship of nature, and values of peace and sustainability.
Activities include games, hiking, swimming, singing, art, campfires, drama, rope-swings, sports, garden and nature, and camping under the stars.
Food at camp is local, organic, vegetarian-friendly, and delicious.
The small size (40 campers per session) and friendly atmosphere make it ideal for first-time campers, and of course many kids return year after year.
TEEN LEADERSHIP CAMP: (age 15-16) is an adventure, service and leadership program for teens. The two week trips include hiking, swimming, camping, biking, team-building, and service-learning.
Work-trades and financial aid are available to all. As a nonprofit one of our goals is to ensure that everyone gets to experience the outdoors this summer, and not let cost be a barrier. You do not need to be "low income" to get help from us with your tuition.
We are proud to be affiliated with Friends (Quakers), who uphold values of equality, integrity, peace, and unity with nature, and have a long history of excellence in education. We are not, however, a religious education camp; we welcome people of all backgrounds, and encourage open discussion of all beliefs (spiritual, political, etc) without upholding one ideaology over any other. Our Quaker values are expressed in the way we treat all people with respect, foster healthy community, and teach children about peace and environmental sustainability. Quaker spirituality at camp is manifested in the moments of silent thanks we share before each meal, and in how we start each day with a few minutes of silent reflection.

Family Camp
Coed

Our summer camp is about FUN, and so much more. In a small, tight, true community set in natural splendor, campers develop self-confidence, independence, social skills (emotional intelligence), creativity, activity skills, environmental awareness and appreciation, friendships, and healthy living skills. Kids also learn what most modern children have forgotten -- how to just play and be a kid without television, video games, the internet, canned games, or social pressure.

Camp Augusta Wilderness Trips
-
We offer a variety of Wilderness Trips that include backpacking, horseback riding, biking, rock climbing and canoeing!
Travel Camp
Coed
Nevada City, California
Camp Augusta’s Wilderness Trips program offers a variety of experiences that take campers into wild settings beyond the bounds of our residential site. Each trip has between 4 and 8 campers and is led by at least 2 wilderness-trained Camp Augusta staff members. We have found that the wilderness trip groups often form very strong bonds within their small close-knit communities while in the wilderness; a result of experiencing many exciting moments and challenges together.
From canoeing down the Sacramento River to rock-climbing in Desolation Wilderness, campers are likely to find a Wilderness Trip which matches their interest and desired challenge. Each one of our expeditions focuses on providing campers with a genuine wilderness experience in which they can develop relevant leadership skills while honing their awareness of both environmental issues and personal safety. Campers will gain skills and knowledge that give them confidence in wilderness settings, whether on flat ground or towering rock, on two wheels or four hooves. Classic Camp Augusta touches of Wish, Wonder, and Surprise will round out the journey.
