1. Summer Study in Colorado - SSIC is a total pre-collegiate experience that combines challenging academics with the sports, recreation, and beauty of a Rocky Mountain campus.
Resident Camp - Coed - Boulder, Colorado

At the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, SUMMER STUDY at THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO at BOULDER offers a 3-week enrichment program for qualified students completing 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade.

Summer Study has a wide variety of enrichment classes including Expository Writing, Speed Reading, Journalism, Calculus, Study Skills, Introduction to Art, Community Service, Photography, Business/Marketing/Advertising, Theater, the renowned Kaplan SAT Preparation course, Habitat for Humanity community service workshops and more. Students have use of the extensive sports and recreational facilities on campus through organized afternoon activities as well as recreational outdoor hiking, biking and roller-blading excursions conducted daily. In addition, students can join one of eight available clinics in soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, fitness training, yoga, rock climbing or guitar. Fun-filled evenings include concerts, shows, dance clubs, movies, broomball, skit/talent night and other great activities.

To feel the brisk mountain air and experience the great outdoors, students will take 4 WEEKEND EXCURSIONS in the 3-week program to the highlights of Colorado. Students will visit Vail and Breckenridge, winter home of the skiing jetsetters, Pike"s Peak, Colorado Springs, a whitewater rafting trip, and finally a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. These weekend trips afford Summer Study students the opportunity to hike, horseback ride and experience the Colorado wildlife and Western culture all in the perfect summer climate. Our EXCLUSIVE CONCEPT of weekend travel is included in the program fees and completes "THE TOTAL PRECOLLEGIATE EXPERIENCE" at The University of Colorado at Boulder.

2. CYP Mountain Summer Camp
Resident Camp - Coed - Boulder, Colorado

Explore nature in the mountains! Ten-day coed backcountry tent camp focuses on environmental education, conservation, and FUN! Campers study mountain ecosystems while they breathe fresh air and revel in the beauty of their natural surroundings. Enjoy whitewater rafting, bird banding, fishing, volunteering, canoeing, astronomy, campfires & more! With a personalized camp setting, CYP empowers girls and boys to make a difference in our world. Ages 11 to 16. Scholarships available.

3. Girls' Wilderness Program of The Women's Wilderness Institute - Backpacking, rock climbing, outdoor skills and expressive arts for girls age 8-18. “Girl-positive” curriculum designed to build confidence, leadership and solid friendships. Four- to 12-day courses. Generous scholarships available.
Travel Camp - All Girls - Boulder, Colorado

The Girls' Wilderness Program offers courses that strengthen the courage, confidence and leadership skills of teen girls through outdoor skills, expressive arts and solid friendships, in a "girl-positive" environment. Four- to 12-day courses include backpacking, rock climbing, hiking and expressive arts through a curriculum developed specifically for girls age 8-18.

Tuition is $490-$1,420 and includes all gear, clothing and food. Generous full and partial scholarships are available. Mature female staff with safety focus and extensive experience working with teen girls. Courses run June-August, begin in Boulder, and take place in Colorado and Southern Wyoming. AEE accredited.

2009 Girls’ Wilderness Program Schedule includes:

ADVENTURE CAMP for ages 12-13 (or entering 7th and 8th grades). 6-day wilderness sampler courses include rock climbing, a three-night backpacking trip, art projects, and an optional peak climb. Dates: June 10-15, June 24-29, July 8-13, July 13-18, August 5-10.

ADVENTURE DAYS for ages 9-11 (or entering 5th and 6th grades). Four consecutive one-day adventures offer a great introduction to hiking, rock climbing, expressive arts and the wilderness. Dates: June 15-18 or August 4-7.

WILDERNESS EXPEDITIONS for ages 14-17 (or entering 9th-11th grades). 8-day backpacking courses in Wyoming include a wide range of outdoor skills, an introduction to rock climbing and the chance to climb Medicine Bow Peak at 12,013 feet. Dates: July 7-14 or July 27-August 3.

WILD THINGS Expressive Arts Courses for ages 13-16 (or entering 8th-11th grades). Three options:
Wild Art ~ 6-day backpacking course with an emphasis on art and creativity; includes photography, drawing, finding art in nature and stretching your creative energy. No artistic expertise necessary. Dates: June 17-22.

Wild Moves ~ 6-day backpacking trip focusing on self-expression through a variety of physical activities, including yoga, rock-climbing, and dancing to learn to love what your body can do. Dates: June 27 – July 2.

Wild Voices ~ 6-day backpacking course combining music and outdoor skills, focusing on singing, making friends and having a blast. No singing experience needed. Dates: July 17-22.

ROCK CLIMBING CAMP for ages 14-17 (or entering 9th-12th grades). 4-day rock climbing, camping and outdoor skills course at Vedauwoo, a renowned climbing site in southern Wyoming. Dates: July 22-25.

LATINA GIRLS COURSE for ages 13-16 (or entering 8th-11th grades). 6-day outdoor experience with other Latina girls includes rock climbing, art projects, an overnight backpacking trip, and an optional peak climb in the company of other Latina girls and women. Dates: July 24-29.

LEADERSHIP COURSE for ages 15-17 (or entering 10th-12th grades). This 12-day expedition provides a more advanced backcountry experience with a focus on sharpening leadership skills. Includes rock climbing and extended backpacking trip in the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness area. Dates: July 31 - August 11.

DAUGHTER-PARENT ADVENTURES for ages 8+. Girls hike with their mom or dad and have fun exploring alpine terrain while practicing basic map and compass navigation, learning how to pack for mountain weather conditions, and gaining skills for future adventures together. Dates: Snowshoeing - February 21, Fly Fishing - June 28 or Rock Climbing - August 8

4. Mountain Day Camp - Mountain Day camp focuses on youth & community development for ages 4.5-14 through nature exploration & play. The program is emphasized by values of Connectedness, Ownership, Identity, & Expertise.

Mountain Day Camp provides authentic nature-based experiences for children and families across Colorado's Front Range. We create multilevel connections, with a focus on youth and community development, through nature exploration, choice, and play.

Mountain Day Camp is Accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed by the State of Colorado.

Founded and staffed by camp and youth development professionals, the Mountain Day Camp partners with parents and families to continue to build a powerful camp community throughout the summer.

We offer:
*Day camps from 8:30am to 4:30pm for campers ages 7-12 in Denver and Boulder
*Day camps from 9am to 3pm for campers ages 4.5-6 in Boulder
*Backpacking trips for campers ages 12-14 in the Boulder area
*Extended hours of care available from 7:45am to 6pm


Each day of the Mountain Day Camp has a consistent structure and routine, but no day is ordinary. On any given day, campers could be hiking a trail, making a journal about their experiences at camp, rock climbing, or learning about the environment and Leave No Trace ethics through nature crafts and games. Our campers are enthusiastic about the natural world, excited to get outside, and be actively engaged during the summer.

Campers will also participate in these developmentally-appropriate activities:

Hands-on environmental education programs
Daily opening and closing ceremonies
Campfire-style events with songs, skits and games
Teambuilding and challenge course activities
Orienteering and mapping adventures
An optional overnight camping out in tents or under the stars (please call if you have questions about this!)

5. Camp Shakespeare - Colorado Shakespeare Festival’s Camp Shakespeare in Boulder
Day Camp - Coed - Boulder, Colorado

For ages 10-18. Want skills for acting Shakespeare? Work scenes with CSF professionals for public performance; take workshops on vocal production, stage fight, movement, and more. 6. music FUNdamentals - Explore basics of harmony and rhythm hands-on, with keyboard and drum playing; learn about classical masterpieces and other musical styles in an incredibly fun way!
Day Camp - Coed - Boulder, Colorado

Budding musicians learn music theory by playing chord and rhythm games, improve their rhythm by doing African, rock and Latin drumming, compose their own 12-bar blues, and explore Bach to Stravinsky. A perfect supplement to private lessons on all instruments!
