John Stuart Mill (1806-1873), British philosopher, economist, moral and political theorist, and administrator, was the most influential English-speaking philosopher of the nineteenth century. His views are of continuing significance, and are generally recognized to be among the deepest and certainly the most effective defenses of empiricism and of a liberal political view of society and culture. The overall aim of his philosophy is to develop a positive view of the universe and the place of humans in it, one which contributes to the progress of human knowledge, individual freedom and human well-being. His views are not entirely original, having their roots in the British empiricism of John Locke, George Berkeley and David Hume, and in the utilitarianism of Jeremy Bentham. But he gave them a new depth, and his formulations were sufficiently articulate to gain for them a continuing influence among a broad public.

Lake Dillon, Colorado
The Dillon Junior Sailing Camp is a great way to spend the summer outside learning a lifelong skill.
We focus on three things in this order: Safety, Fun, & Skills. This is the summer time and the chance for these children to build lifelong friendships and memories. We try to do that by instilling and teaching the love of sailing in a safe and fun environment with the knowledge that if a student loves sailing and makes friends, they will continue on with this wonderful sport for a long time to come.
Our classes are for kids of all skill levels, never-ever to competition, from ages 10 to 18. US Sailing certified instructors provide personalized instruction in the classroom, on the dock, and on the lake. Sessions are a week long with classes from 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Kids use the Junior Sailing fleet boats including Picos, Hunter 140s, Club 420s, and Lasers depending on weight and skill level. Discount accommodations are available for families that want to spend the week in Dillon while the kids sail.
