Summer Adventure
-
Summer Adventure is a state-licensed day camp sponsored by Black Rock Congregational Church in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Day Camp
Coed
Fairfield, Connecticut
For 35 years, the camp has offered children with an active summer of friendships and fun. The camp consists of two programs, one for students who have completed grades K-6, and a junior high program for students who have completed grades 6-9. (6th graders may choose either camp) Activities take place on the church property as well as parks, beaches, and other public facilities. Days include Bible stories, hikes, crafts, drama and music, games, picnics and more! Special trips are taken to museums, boats, theaters, amusement parks, and many other fun locations.
A Typical Day at Summer Adventure:
Each morning, campers gather for announcements and fellowship together. Singing, skits and group games help us get energized for the day ahead.
After morning opening, campers split into three grade level groups to hear lessons from the Bible. Fun interactive stories, music and games help us to learn important values God wants to teach us.
Following Bible time, campers have a choice of going to one of three skill group centers:
Sports: Test your athletic skills in a variety of group sports and active games.
Cooking: Bake yummy treats in the kitchen to enjoy with lunch or take home at the end of the day.
Crafts: Express your creativity through arts and crafts projects that will grace your home art gallery.
Each day after the morning activities, the camp sets out on our daily trip to a number of fun locations. Whether it’s cruising the Thimble Islands, hiking Sleeping Giant St. Park, riding the roller coasters at Lake Compounce or checking out the sharks at the Maritime Aquarium, Summer Adventure finds new and exciting places to visit each day that will make your summer a memorable one. Frequent full and extended-day trips are taken to maximize the amount of time on some of our longer distance trips.
Any questions about Summer Adventure registration, programming, cost and availability can be answered by calling (203) 255-3401. Summer Adventure is licensed as a day camp by the State of Connecticut and is open to children who have completed grades K-9 regardless of race, creed or color.

Fairfield, Connecticut
The mission of the Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) is to provide the highest quality educational and social opportunities for academically gifted and talented students through programs designed to meet their abilities and needs.
SIG at Fairfield University, CT, provides academically advanced students ages 6-14 with an exciting and challenging educational experience. A Saturday Program for students in grades 1-6 is also available.
The program combines remarkable academic courses with cultural, social, and recreational opportunities. The academic program is central to the design and purpose of SIG. Our programs provide students with academic challenges designed to fit their abilities and interests. It also provides them with the opportunity to engage with other students who have similar abilities and interests. Because of our small classes, low teacher-student ratio, and the presence of an assistant in every class, we are able to individualize the program for each and every student.
The richness of a broad range of geographical, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, the stimulation created by talented and intellectually engaged students working and playing together, the depth and diversity of the SIG faculty and staff, and the beautiful and well-equipped college campus environments create a perfect atmosphere for learning, growing and accomplishing meaningful goals.
