MAKE A STATEMENT THIS SUMMER BY DOING SOMETHING TRULY EXCEPTIONAL - create movies, from script-to-screen! With Filmmakrs Ink, aspiring young filmmakers will gain knowledge in every aspect of filmmaking. We offer film camps all over CT. The first week will focus on screenwriting with the Filmmakers Ink staff guiding your child through the script development process as they write their own screenplay. Our staff of professional filmmakers will then guide all of the young filmmakers as they work together as a team to produce films from these scripts with actors from our Acting For Film Program. From script development to creating lighting design and shot lists, the process of making your film will build confidence, hone your ability to work as a member of a team and leave you with a finished film to add to your portfolio. Since 1942, Buck's Rock camp has remained an educational institution for the Performing and Creative Arts that has never lost faith in the innate capacity of young people to structure their time intelligently and to use freedom courageously and productively. Buck's Rock Performing and Creative Arts Camp provides campers the freedom to choose their activities on a daily basis, and a supportive, non-competitive environment in which to explore their interests. Campers work along side qualified professional artists and teachers who nurture and support their talents and skills as they perform and create. Each activity has its own area and is equipped to professional standards. We believe that young people can best act and work creatively when they choose their activities and are allowed the time they need to pursue them.

Activities:
The Performing Arts include: music - featuring orchestral, jazz, ensembles, choral, rock, percussion, recording studio and private instruction, theater, musical theater, dance, clowning and improvisation, and stand up comedy. The Creative Arts include, among many others, glassblowing, ceramics, woodworking, sculpture, photography, sewing, painting, printmaking, weaving, bookarts, publications and creative writing, computers and video. There are also ample opportunities for campers to take part in activities such as sports, swimming, spelunking, animal farming, horseback riding, etc. Campers work along side qualified professional artists and teachers who nurture and support their talents and skills as they perform and create.

Founded in 2002 by author Eleyne Austen Sharp, KID FILMMAKERS is committed to producing quality filmmaking programs for children to schools, libraries, community centers, film festivals, YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs, churches and movie theaters. Year-round workshops include Animation Vacation, Cutting Loose, Faked You Out!, Film Wizard Workshop, Get Reel, Movie Maestros, Practical Pirates, Screen Stealers, ScriptKidz, Summer Shoot and TV Graffiti.

Faculty members are experienced film industry professionals with credits from MGM Pictures, Warner Brothers, Dreamworks, Discovery Channel, NBC, PBS, Turner Broadcasting and more. (Some are film and television award winners!) Because we care, all staff members must pass a Background Criminal Investigation.

REGISTER NOW FOR SUMMER 2009: We offer a variety of one-week summer filmmaking programs for ages 10-15 in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island:

Animation Vacation – features anime, Claymation®, storyboarding, screenwriting, special effects, editing, daily film screenings and awards.

Summer Shoot – features videography, screenwriting, acting, directing, makeup, film screenings and awards. Each crew (divided by age) will produce a 1) documentary about peace or ecology, 2) Kid Filmmakers commercial, 3) silent film and 4) drama, comedy or musical. Selected projects will appear on the Kid Filmmakers YouTube channel.

KID FILMMAKERS is pleased to offer partial and full scholarships to deserving recipients. Partial scholarships are designed to cover the difference between what a family can pay and the actual fee. Applications for scholarships will be processed on a first-come, first served basis until funds are depleted. Only one scholarship per family is available. All awards are confidential.
