Looking for a way to get your teenagers outdoors, unplugged, and a bit out of their comfort zone? At Hawaii Wilderness, our students learn leadership skills by cooking, teaching, and guiding each other through unforgettable adventures. We emphasize respect for the land and culture, through environmental service projects benefiting local farmers and the community. This summer we'll get off the beaten path by camping, harvesting taro, and hiking to waterfalls in Waipi'o Valley. This valley is one of the most sacred places in the Hawaiian Islands; rugged yet beautiful, and rich in historical significance. Next, students will learn to sail Sunfish in Hilo Bay. These boats are fast, wet, and fun! Earn open water SCUBA certification while exploring the pristine underwater world of the Kona coast. We'll also discover lava, steam vents, and native forest in Volcanoes National Park. With a focus on education, students learn invaluable skills while immersed in the natural treasures of Hawaii.
