Swift Nature Camp is a small premier Wisconsin residential summer camp for Boys & Girls ages 6-15. SNC is located in the Northwoods of Wisconsin on a 1500 acre lake connected to a county forest, We combine traditional water & land activities along with hands on outdoor Nature Studies. Traditional Adventure camping activities include: Horses, Swimming, Scuba, Team Course, Sailing, Skiing, and much more. Above all else we have FUN. Best of all campers take out of camp canoe and backpack trips. Self-accomplishment is promoted in a noncompetitive and nurturing environment. Two counselors live in each cabin of 8-10 children, fostering cabin spirit, organizing trips and reading stories at night.

Programs are 2, 3 & 6 weeks. Plus a special First Timer Camp!

3. Lake County Forest Preserves - Outdoor adventures & summer learning for kids from 4 years old-10th grade. 1-week sessions, choose from a variety of topics.

Enjoy adventures in nature, art, fishing, history, paddling and much more. Lake County Forest Preserve Summer Camps are designed for summer fun and learning. Camps are led by our professional educators. Our trained staff is experienced in supervision, safety techniques, and activity development. Accredited by the American Camping Association, age-appropriate day camp sessions include nature & wildlife, art, history, fishing, canoeing at forest preserves in North Chicago, Libertyville, Round Lake, Wauconda, Deerfield, more.

4. Buehler YMCA - Buehler YMCA Summer Day Camp is a camp for all ages and all abilities. We offer a safe, fun place to be from 7am-6pm for all 10 weeks of summer while parents work.

With over 40 different camps to choose from, Buehler YMCA truly has a lot to offer. Kids of all ages can benefit from camp whether they are first time campers, or have been coming for years. We have everything from weekly field trips to specialized sports and activities onsite and off. Our camp is accredited by the American Camping Association and our counselors are all CRP/First Aid Certified and go through 40 hours of training to make sure that the highest standards are met. We take camping very seriously and believe that all participants should be in a fun, welcoming environment where they can enjoy themselves and feel safe while parents can have the piece of mind knowing that their children are in good hands.

Camp McCormick is a rustic camp that offers programs for girls ages 7-17. We strive to empower girls to participate in activities where they can learn camping skills as well as life skills. Just because they are in a rustic setting does not mean the skills they learn at camp will not apply to the "non-camp" world around them.

6. Conservation Camp - Conservation Camp offers exciting exploration opportunities for animal and nature lovers from 4-year-olds to those entering fourth grade in fall 2011. Each Conservation Camp group will explore the zoo and do activities to discover animal diversity, environmental conservation and ways Lincoln Park Zoo cares for animals at the zoo and conserves them in the wild.

Flexible Fun in 2011

You can choose one or two different week-long sessions of camp. The sessions are independent and non-cumulative, so you can choose to enroll in one or both sessions. You can also choose consecutive or non-consecutive sessions. Perhaps you’d like to take a few weeks off between sessions (great for summer vacation plans)? The choice is yours!

7. Camp Dean - Camp Dean is an ACA-accredited resident camp for girls located on 160 pristine acres of woodland and prairie 50 miles west of downtown Chicago.

Camp Dean offeres 160 acres of adventureous woodlands to explore. Camp Dean offers challenging programs for girls in grades K-12. Girls stay 1 - 12 nights depending on age, program, and skill level.

Campers may choose from general and specialty sessions depending on their age and interest, and work with their counselors and fellow campers after arrival to plan their activities during their stay. Campers live in one of three platform tent units or in open air style cabin units.

Camp staff are carefully screened and selected, and represent the highest charcter, skill and caring. Each unit and activity staff member is trained in First Aid and CPR, and all staff members participate in a comprehensive staff training prior to the summer. Aquatics and horseback riding staff possess specialized skills and certifications. Staff members are at least eighteen years of age, and are from across the United States and abroad. Many are current college or university students or recent graduates.

Camp Dean is fully accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA). ACA-accreditation is a distinction only one in four camps seeks and earns. To earn accreditation, our camp complies with over 300 stringent health, safety and program quality standards, and is visited regularly by ACA standards visitors to monitor our compliance. Facilities at Camp Dean include a cental dining hall lodge and commercial kitchen, camp office and Health Center, platform tent and cabin living units, a private lake for boating and fishing, miles of hiking trails, a heated in-ground swimming pool, open fields for sports and games, a creek, four program buildings, and several primitive sites for tent camping and cookout.

A fulltime Camp Ranger lives on-site, and is in constant communication with Resident Camp staff by way of UHF radio. Level II First Aid Trained and with a background in Fire Safety and Fire Fighting, the Camp Ranger also monitors and advises the Camp Director of approaching weather conditions.

Campers need not be Girl Scouts in order to attend Camp Dean, though tuition subsidies are provided to Girl Scouts registered within our five-council Co-op. Summer Day Camp is also available, and Troop Camping is available during fall, winter and spring months.
