Palos Hills Riding Stables, Inc is a family owned business that had been in operation for almost 50 years. Our day camps are offered during the summer as well as over winter and spring breaks for children. We offer camps for children with no horse experience as well as for kids who are experienced equestrians. In the beginner camp we focus on learning to balance on the horse, posting the trot, steering and controlling the horse. The intermediate camp focuses on cantering, mastering control of all gaits, and knowing how to tack and untack a horse with minimal help. The advanced camp skills include cantering on the correct lead, mastery of most horses in the riding school, equitation patterns and learning how to prepare for a horse show. In addition to the riding skills aquired, each camp level also includes ongoing instruction on correct riding position, horse management skills, first aid, ground handling and ground driving skills. Camp Carew is located approximately 9 miles south of Carbondale, Illinois. We are located on a 60 acre site sitting on a 900 acre lake. We are surrounded by the natural settings of a wildlife refuge, national forest and a state park. This setting provides ample opportunities for a variety of activities.

We have very gentle well trained lesson horses. Safty is our first concern. We teach kid how to treat and care for horses humanely.
Through the lessons that the kids will receive at our camp, they will learn, How to feed, groom, also tack up and ride a horse. They will go on a trail ride after riding lessons in an arena. After there guided trail ride they will have free time to ride in the arena to fine tune there riding skills. There will also be a trail course at the end of the day so the kids can try out there new skill.

Two snacks and lunch will be provided in our pavillion.
We hope that the kids will have huge amounts of fun and aquire that animal,human bond that is so important to the development of children.

Breezy Bluff offers a wholesome atmosphere in which to enjoy and educate about horses and horsemanship. We welcome any seat style and ask that campers refrain from using stong language and leave their music choices at home. We have given horseback instuction for over 20 years and offered camps for 8 years. You will not regret the reasonable fees charged by our farm.
