Lake Forest, Illinois

Lake Forest College is a coeducational undergraduate institution located just 30 miles north of Chicago in the small city of Lake Forest, Illinois. One of the most beautiful suburbs on Chicago’s North Shore, Lake Forest provides a secure, supportive environment for the College. The beautiful 107-acre campus sits just a few blocks from Lake Michigan and is within walking distance of the train station and the shops, cafés, and restaurants of downtown Lake Forest.

Directing the program this summer is Head Football Coach at Lake Forest College, Jim Catanzaro. The 2009 season will be the first as Lake Forest College's head coach for Jim Catanzaro, the team's defensive coordinator each of the last three seasons.

The 2008 Lake Forest defense had a pair of First Team All-Midwest Conference selections and four others were named honorable mention all-conference. The team ranked tied-for-fifth in the league in total defense and second in pass defense and red zone defense. Five individual Foresters ranked among the top 20 in the conference in tackles. In addition, Chris Tossing, Jaron Eanes, and Matt Lawler finished among the top five in the MWC in sacks, tackles for loss, and interceptions, respectively.

Catanzaro came to Lake Forest from NCAA Division II Wingate University, where he was the defensive line coach for three seasons. The Bulldog defense tallied 86 sacks, led the South Atlantic Conference in turnovers twice, and helped the 2004 team post the best single-season record in the program's history. In addition, a pair of Wingate players earned All-American honors under his direction. He was also the head strength coach for all Wingate sports and has taken on a similar role at Lake Forest.

All campers will have the opportunity to train each day, work hard, improve, make new friends, and have fun on the beautiful Lake Forest campus. Each athlete is encouraged to develop new skills and achieve a new level of play and self-confidence. Campers work on conditioning, fundamentals and technique at individual positions, plus offensive and defensive team play.

Special team play and scrimmaging is also a big part of our programs. All phases of down-field coverages, wedge busting, tackling, blocking for punts, field goals, extra points, holding, kick-off, and kick receiving is covered. And after working hard all week, both individually and as a team, the final day 'live' scrimmage is the highlight of camp. Campers are divided into teams by age, weight, size and ability. Using light and dark jerseys, teams scrimmage as parents, friends and the entire camp staff cheers them on. Every camper plays at least one-half of our scrimmage.
