Decorah Summer Camps

Since 1982, the Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM) has been the pinnacle program of Lutheran Music Program. We bring together 150+ young people from throughout the United States for four weeks of rigorous musical study and performance in a supportive community. We welcome qualified band, orchestra, choir, piano and organ students completing grades 8-12 from all faith backgrounds to join us.

WHO: 150+ band, orchestra, choir, piano and organ students completing grades 8-12 from the U.S. and abroad; 36 faculty artists from the best college music departments and professional ensembles; a team of dedicated counselors and staff.

WHAT: A four-week residential training and performance program rooted in a supportive, intentional community that is committed to your personal and musical success.

WHERE: Luther College, Decorah, Iowa. Luther College is located just three hours south of the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in beautiful northeastern Iowa.

WHEN: June 26 to July 24, 2011

You'll make some of the best friends of your life while improving your music skills, exploring your faith and learning about the rich musical heritage of the Lutheran church.

Inspire a passion for science in your child! New activities every year, over 40 locations and four different kinds of Camp Invention programs in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota!

Kids participate in each of these activities every day:

Magnetropolis – Design a magnet-powered city and build a maglev train.
Inventeureka - Join Team Inventeureka and mash up ideas to build wacky and humorous
widget inventions that morph into amazing, new prototypes!
I Can Invent: Balloon Burst - Work with real tools to take apart a small mechanical device, use the parts and other materials to build a Rube Goldberg machine!
Action and Adventure Games – Use upcycled materials and teamwork to create your own exciting new games!

Directed and taught by qualified local educators, Camp Invention is a national STEM enrichment program from the nonprofit Invent Now. Activities also focus on developing 21st Century learning skills such as teamwork, critical thinking skills, decision-making, creative problem-solving, and working through failure.
