1. Tipitina's Tykes & Tunes Music Summer Camp - Music Camp where Kids Learn about New Orleans Music straight from the Musicians
Day Camp - Coed - New Orleans, Louisiana

Children will learn music history, make instruments and be a part of the Tipitina’s Tykes & Tunes Band. It’s never too early to love music!

2 Week-Long Sessions: Mon., July 27 - Fri., July 31 & Mon., Aug 3 - Fri., Aug. 7, 2009, 9am - 1pm (students may register for 1 or both sessions). Located at legendary Tipitina's Uptown, 501 Napoleon Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana 70115

Students will enjoy fun, hands-on-approach to developing and enhancing musical concepts, skills, and expression. Children learn through songs, games, instrument making & playing, conducting, and improvisation, while developing concentration, self-concept, coordination, creativity, and social skills.

2. Ecole Bilingue/ Alliance Française French Immersion Summer Camp - Ecole Bilingue and the Alliance Francaise are pleased to announce the continuation of New Orleans’ finest French immersion Summer Camp program for ages 5 through 11.
Day Camp - Coed - New Orleans, Louisiana

The Ecole Bilingue/Alliance Française Summer Camp is designed for both the French immersion student and the beginning French language learner. Children will enjoy daily sports, art, music, and theater as well as computers and multi-media activities. We offer a high-quality educational program with small groups and qualified, experienced teachers. Children will participate in a weekly field trips.

HOURS: Monday to Friday * 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (Before and after-care available)
COST: $380.00 per session

Session UN: June 12 to June 23
Theme: La Vie Quotidienne [Everyday French Life]. What is life like for children in France? We will use our imaginations to experience the rich culture of modern day France through fun and creative expression, stories, music, art, visual arts, etc. We’ll play French games, create comic books in French, and much, much more!

Session DEUX: June 26 to Saturday*, July 8 (CAMP CLOSED Tuesday, July 4)
Theme: Le Monde Entier [The World Around Us]. Celebrate the wonders of the natural world and the beauty that surrounds us. Fun activities include clay and puppetry classes, gardening, outdoors adventures including picnics, and a visit to the NOMA Sculpture Garden.

Session TROIS: July 10 to July 21
Theme: Les Arts et Les Sports en France [The Arts and Sports of France). Come discover the arts and sports of France. We will play croquet, pétanque, soccer and rugby during our sports time and our art program will include a more in depth discovery of the fine arts. In addition we will take a peek at the French artists in the NOMA museum.

Session QUATRE: July 24 to August 4
Theme: Les Animeaux (animals). Explore the world of animals “en français” with creative animal theatre, a special trip to the zoo, and other exciting activities.

3. New Orleans GlassWorks' Young Adult Workshop in Glass, Metal & Print - hands-on, weekly workshops focusing on multi-media projects incorporating glass, metal & print
Day Camp - Coed - New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans School of GlassWorks is in its 20th year of offering a one of a kind, young adult summer workshop from June – August 2009. The workshop will be available for students ages 10 to 17. Young adults will gain the experience of hands-on creativity and instruction in glassblowing, scientific torch working, stained glass, mosaics, and fused & slumped glass. This is complimented by the metal sculpture, paper engineering, book arts, and printmaking studios. The staff and faculty have been rewarded with the students’ abilities in design, therefore mastering a multitude of challenging technical creations in the glass, metal, or print departments not offered in their schools. In the fall, the students have the opportunity to continue with the faculty on weekends and holidays. Examples of the designs created by the master faculty teachers in the glass, metal, and print studios are exhibited in the front room gallery, New Orleans ArtWorks Gallery. Visitors are invited to see the FREE daily demonstrations, Monday – Friday. The summer workshops are limited to 25 students each week, with a 1 to 6 teacher/student ratio in each open, spacious working studio.
