Children enjoy many activites including hiking, meeting animals, gardening, rafting, swimming, boating and more, all while actively learning about science and the environment. Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region is a nonprofit organization that promotes outdoor hands-on education to youth.

2. Summer at Sandy Spring - Summer at Sandy Spring provides a unique and enriching summer program. We offer a summer filled with fun, challenge, and life changing expereinces utilizing the wonderful grounds and expansive facilities at Sandy Spring Friends School

Summer at Sandy Spring is known for having an interesting variety of camps; low staff to camper ratios; experienced, caring adults responsible for each program and excellent facilities. We are located on Sandy Spring Friends School’s beautiful, 140-acre, wooded campus. We are located near Olney, Wheaton, Rockville, and Silver Spring.

Campers love our performing arts center, ropes course, nature trails, two gymnasiums, playgrounds, art barn, natural swimming pond, and computer labs.

Summer at Sandy Spring offers art, activity, sports, academic enrichment, general and activity camps, such as Fishing, Culinary Arts, Soccer, Counselors-in-Training, Woodshop, Rocketry ,Adventure Camps, Cermaics, Photography Basketball, and Volleyball.

Transportation is available from a variety of locations.

4. Washington College Geospatial Discoveries Summer Program - Geospatial technology is used in many fields. This Program focuses on the use of geospatial technologies in the fields of 3D Visualization and Virtual World Development, Crime Analysis and Mapping, and Marine Exploration and Discovery.

Washington College’s Geospatial Discoveries Summer Program offers a unique summer experience for kids in grades 7-12. Program attendees will spend one week at Washington College exploring many areas of this growing field. In combination with GIS, participants will also explore the depths of the Chester River, and create a 3D replica of a building or some other feature in a virtual world. By the end of the week participants will walk away with an understanding of geospatial technologies and how they are used in everyday life.

Camp runs from June 24th to June 30th, 2012.
