Using a combination of traditional camp programs combined with a one-to-one staff to camper ratio, we have created a camp that meets the needs of children who have not been successful in other programs. The campers here have a structured environment, as well as with the individualized attention they receive from talented, creative, amazing staff. We believe in helping facilitate positive life changes for our campers using what we call the Starfish Tools and Strategies as a guide to help create and enforce positive coping skills and constructive behaviors.
We offer traditional camp activities combined with a structured, supportive program that allows our campers to have a great summer experience as well as learn new skills! Some of our activities include; kayaking, swim lessons, arts-n-crafts, singing in the dining hall, campfires, marshmallow roasting, nature hikes, trips to our Discovery Center, time to relax with a favorite book or game and time to make connections with people both staff and bunkmates. So even though campers come to Starfish to work on their coping skills, staff come to Starfish to facilitate an incredible, well-rounded, skill-building and fun summer experience. Our campers and staff in cabins, eat in the dining hall, swim in the lake, have fun during free play, participate in activities together, and build a camp community which is both similar to and as unique as other summer camps. The main thing is (as one of our Starfish Tools says),“We come to camp to Learn, Grow, and Have Fun."
