Since 1999 over 130,000 students worldwide have immersed in hands-on learning to create iPhone apps, programs with C++ and Java, video games, websites, movies, 3D models, ad designs, robots, films, and photos. Beginner to advanced students ages 7-17 enroll in these fun and challenging, weeklong, day and overnight summer camps held at 60 prestigious universities nationwide (see below).

Small class sizes (max 8:1) are guaranteed and taught by adult-only instructors, with Teens, pre-Teens, and younger students separated into different classes. Swift Nature Camp is a small premier Wisconsin residential summer camp for Boys & Girls ages 6-15. SNC is located in the Northwoods of Wisconsin on a 1500 acre lake connected to a county forest, We combine traditional water & land activities along with hands on outdoor Nature Studies. Traditional Adventure camping activities include: Horses, Swimming, Scuba, Team Course, Sailing, Skiing, and much more. Above all else we have FUN. Best of all campers take out of camp canoe and backpack trips. Self-accomplishment is promoted in a noncompetitive and nurturing environment. Two counselors live in each cabin of 8-10 children, fostering cabin spirit, organizing trips and reading stories at night.

Programs are 2, 3 & 6 weeks. Plus a special First Timer Camp!

4. Camp Invention - Duluth, Minnesota - Take things apart, create inventions, design a magnet-powered city to scale and make a maglev train, use tools to take apart appliances, build wild new gadgets that morph into something else! Elementary STEM enrichment.

Kids participate in each of these activities every day:

Magnetropolis – Design a magnet-powered city and build a maglev train.
Inventeureka - Join Team Inventeureka and mash up ideas to build wacky and humorous
widget inventions that morph into amazing, new prototypes!
I Can Invent: Balloon Burst - Work with real tools to take apart a small mechanical device, use the parts and other materials to build a Rube Goldberg machine!
Action and Adventure Games – Use upcycled materials and teamwork to create your own exciting new games!

Directed and taught by qualified local educators, Camp Invention is a national STEM enrichment program from the nonprofit Invent Now. Activities also focus on developing 21st Century learning skills such as teamwork, critical thinking skills, decision-making, creative problem-solving, and working through failure.

Positive Energy Outdoor (ed)Ventures day camps have a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 10 participants. Blake Cazier and Stephanie Love, your instructors, share over 40 years of combined outdoor education experience. Program fees include transportation, equipment and instruction.

All summer camps include meeting the draft `horses and sled dogs, kayaking, rock climbing, team building challenges, hiking/orienteering, swimming and
other camp activities.

The Youth Mushing Camp includes snowshoeing, horse drawn sleigh ride, winter camping/survival skills and ice safety.

Meet at Marshall School Parking Lot, 1215 Rice Lake Road, Duluth, at 8:30 am. Pick up campers at 4:30 pm. Program locations at Positive Energy Outdoor (ed)Ventures, 15 miles north of Duluth, and various Duluth sites; details provided in registration packet.

Bring a bag lunch, water bottle, sunscreen and raingear. Youth Mushing Camp has a separate clothing list and meets from 9 am – 4 pm. Enjoy a potluck and slideshow on the final day of each summer camp.

6. Urban Wilderness Camps - Each week of camp takes place at a different city park. Designed to utilize the unique offerings of the park and community. We spend a lot of time in the woods and balance elements of recreation, education, conservation and community.

Urban Wilderness Camp is Hartley Nature Center's traveling variety show. Each week of camp takes place at a different city park (Fairmont Park by the zoo, Chester Park, and Lester Park). Programming is designed to utilize the unique offerings of the featured location. We spend a lot of time in the woods. Activities are designed to balance elements of recreation, education, conservation and community.

We do things like swim in local creeks, search for crayfish, find agates, safely eat wild plants and berries, explore forests and creeks, play disc golf and capture the flag, make up games, paddle canoes, fish, cook over fires, tie knots, set up tarps, ride the city bus, hike on the Superior Hiking Trail, bike on the Munger Trail, paddle canoes, work and play as a team, and take care of our local urban wilderness.

Fly Fishing Camp

$125 per adult/youth pair (includes equipment and food)

Fly fishing camp will give children and their parents or adult mentor an introduction to the exciting sport of fly fishing. Campers (youth and adults) will learn to cast with a fly rod, tie flies for fishing, and explore fish habitat. The last day of camp, participants will practice their new fly fishing skills at a local river or lake. Equipment and materials are provided; no previous experience is necessary. Fishing license with trout stamp is required for all participating adults.

Animal Care Day Camp

Participants will take an active role in animal care. They will learn what it takes to keep GLA resident animals healthy, happy, and active. Activities include preparing meals, keeping the exhibits clean, testing the water quality, and creating enrichment toys for otters, birds and more.

Participants will explore the science behind diving and use all of their newly-learned diving skills at an open warm water dive. They’ll discover techniques, gear and diving safety with a PADI certified dive master. Divers will learn what happens to their body when it is under the water, how the gear works and what kinds of things they can see.
