| Resident Camp - All Girls - Pelham, New-Hampshire |
Camp Runels is a Girl Scout Resident Camp, operating since 1930. The camp has 300 acres of forest and a mile of waterfront on Little Island Pond in southern New Hampshire. The camp is about an hour from Boston and two hours from the White Mountains.
Living units include platform tents or open-air cabins and everyone eats in a large dining hall, or units can plan gourmet cookouts. Campers take advantage of the sports fields, waterfront, nature program and craft house, and counselors lead their units of campers in fun and friendship.
We provide girls with a variety of programs, including kayaking and a kayak trip, bicycling and whitewater rafting trips, canoeing, rock climbing, boating, sailing, swimming, horseback riding programs, and arts, photography, and drama programs. There are also lots of opportunities for campfires, sing-a-longs, games and teambuilding.
Girls at resident camp have an opportunity to experience independence, take care of themselves, try new activities, and make new friends in a supervised environment. Girls get to choose an area of interest, or program, to specialize in for a few hours a day. The rest of the day is planned by the campers, who choose activities, plan cookouts, and participate in scheduled camp events. At Camp Runels, girls gain confidence, build sefl-esteem, leadership skills and independence. | |
