Camp Runels is a Girl Scout Resident Camp, operating since 1930. The camp has 300 acres of forest and a mile of waterfront on Little Island Pond in southern New Hampshire. The camp is about an hour from Boston and two hours from the White Mountains.
Living units include platform tents or open-air cabins and everyone eats in a large dining hall, or units can plan gourmet cookouts. Campers take advantage of the sports fields, waterfront, nature program and craft house, and counselors lead their units of campers in fun and friendship.
We provide girls with a variety of programs, including kayaking and a kayak trip, bicycling and whitewater rafting trips, canoeing, rock climbing, boating, sailing, swimming, horseback riding programs, and arts, photography, and drama programs. There are also lots of opportunities for campfires, sing-a-longs, games and teambuilding.
Girls at resident camp have an opportunity to experience independence, take care of themselves, try new activities, and make new friends in a supervised environment. Girls get to choose an area of interest, or program, to specialize in for a few hours a day. The rest of the day is planned by the campers, who choose activities, plan cookouts, and participate in scheduled camp events. At Camp Runels, girls gain confidence, build sefl-esteem, leadership skills and independence.

Camp Machagamee is located in Pelham, NH on the Camp Runels property. For 56 years girls ages 6 –16 have spent their summers here, swimming, making new friends, and singing around the campfire.
At camp girls plan their daily schedule, take part in special events and theme week activities, and are encouraged to try something new every day. As a result, girls gain confidence, build self-esteem, leadership skills and independence.
Our highly trained, certified staff provide campers with swimming instruction and the opportunity to improve their skills in canoeing on Little Island Pond. Girls can try out a pedal boat, and sailing is offered to campers 10 years and older.
Girls will explore drama, create artwork to take home, and produce a presentation for their parents at Final Flag on Friday. Our nature staff lead girls in exploring the aquatic ecology and wildlife of the pond, forest, and wetlands.
Every girl will have an opportunity to try outdoor cooking, tent pitching, orienteering skills and spend time learning about local plants and animals and their habitat. Girls can plan cookouts and challenge themselves along the Outdoor Skills Trail.
