Birchmont - A Pierce Family Camp
-
We offer a traditional sports oriented camp experience in beautiful New Hampshire. Our highly diversified curriculum emphasizes tennis and waterfront activities. Join the Pierce Family, one of the oldest camping families in America.
Resident Camp - Coed - Wolfeboro, New-Hampshire
Sleeping away from family, living in a new "home," creating a new family of friends: this is what the Birchmont Experience is all about.
On a practical level, Birchmont offers its campers the ease of transition from the security of home and family life to the independence of beginning to create a "home away from home" for the summer. The newly acquired camper skills of taking care of one’s self, organizing personal belongings, sharing cabin chores, not to mention better performance on the fields and courts, empower children in positive and discernable ways. Learning new activities to which a child has had no previous exposure is as fulfilling for us to teach as it is for children to discover. In the area of personal development, the "sleepaway" experience encourages campers to form strong friendships among peers and staff which can last a lifetime. Cabin life at Birchmont teaches each child to be supportive, and supported, in their time at camp. Under the watchful eyes of patient, caring adults who share their living space, our campers learn the importance of cooperation, consideration and camaraderie.
All this takes place amidst a summer of fun, adventure and exciting activities over three hundred beautiful acres nestled between the foothills of the White Mountains and Lake Wentworth - one of the most magnificent campgrounds in all New England. Your children will spend crisp summer nights stargazing in open fields, experiencing the wonderment and awe of sights and sounds so different from those found in their own backyard.
The Birchmont Experience is the perfect combination of good times, and personal growth. We sincerely hope your children will share rewarding summers with us.
Every activity at Birchmont is undertaken with the concept that at no time should winning or losing be confused with a child’s personal worth. We "meet" each camper at the activity level where he or she feels comfortable and confident. Once this is accomplished, our program progresses through building skills and providing challenge.
This philosophy transfers well to off-field activities, both familiar and new. With no "fear of falling," children who have never worked with clay, water-skied, or navigated a ropes course before, are now willing to give them a try. Each activity area is run by staff members dedicated to and proficient in that specific specialty.
With regard to competition, we must firstly state we promote only the positive aspects of athletic competition. For campers looking for a more competitive challenge, Birchmont hosts a full slate of intercamp competitions in nearly every sport. We compete in the Lakes Region Athletic Association, an organization of both unisex and co-ed camps which are a relatively close distance from our gate. We regularly host tournaments on grounds and have had championship tournament teams in Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, and Tennis on a consistent basis, taking home an average of 20 first-place trophies a season. At Birchmont, our campers get the best of both worlds - an outstanding athletic program balanced with a strong traditional co-ed camp environment! Come join us for friendships & memories that will last a lifetime!
