5. Camp Invention - Glen Ridge FIRST brings nationally-acclaimed Camp Invention’s INNOVATE weeklong summer program to students entering grades one through six this summer.
Day Camp
Coed

Created in partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame and the United States Patent and Trademark Office, this exciting, weeklong adventure in creativity immerses students in imaginative play that reinforces and supplements school-year learning in the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

Students work together to seek innovative solutions to real-world problems at Camp Invention’s INNOVATE program. Students sharpen critical 21st century learning skills such as teamwork and creative problem solving as they rotate through four modules each day that disguise learning as fun.

In the Power’d™ module, students will assemble their own motorized creatures and bring them to life while helping a mysterious scientist explore alternative energy.
The role of economics in the world is explained through the guise of a virtual world, whose marketplace needs to be rebuilt in the Hatched™ module.
In the I Can Invent: Launchitude™ module, student expedition teams will explore physics, entrepreneurship and invention through hands-on challenges.
Finally, in the Geo-Games™ module, students combine physical activity and creativity, while practicing teamwork, cooperation, coordination and creative problem solving during fun, energetic games.

6. Little Ivy Academy: RealScience! Summer Crossroads - We invite your elementary school child to join us for summer days filled with Real discovery, Real hands-on science and Real fun during Little Ivy Academy’s 2013 Summer Crossroads: RealScience! summer day camp programs.
Day Camp
Coed

Welcome to Little Ivy Academy's Summer Crossroads: RealScience! summer day camp programs.

Our Summer Crossroads programs each have limited class sizes to provide your child with a robust, small-group summer day camp experience. We will process registrations on a rolling admission basis until each camp session is full. Additional registrations will be placed on a wait list, and we will contact you in the event your registration is wait-listed.

Below are our 2013 summer camp programs, exclusively for children who will be entering 3rd, 4th or 5th grade in September. . .

+ LET'S GET ANIMATED! ---Instead of spending a summer week on the sofa just watching cartoons and playing video games, what if your child could actually spend a week actively discovering how they can create their very own animated story. . . and bring it to life on their computer screen?

Let’s Get Animated! will launch your child’s imagination into action as they set out to create and animate their own interactive, animated story, all while learning the basics of the age-appropriate Scratch programming language developed at MIT’s cutting-edge Media Lab— and with plenty of time for traditional, outdoor day camp activities, too

From programming the moves of their avatar character, through adding in sounds and colors, to creating basic user interactions, each day will be filled with opportunities for your child to advance their story and further develop their Scratch programming skills.

+ BIG FLING! --- Once upon a time, the ancients discovered the science and engineering of how to move things through space using machines. Now, it is your child’s turn!

Big Fling! will lift your child’s curiosity to new heights as they discover for themself all of the forces at work behind machines that pull, roll, lift. . .and yes, even machines that fling! Each day of camp will provide opportunities for your child and their fellow campers to build, test, tinker and enhance their very own simple machines—with plenty of time for traditional day camp activities, too.

As you may have guessed, each day’s project will build toward week’s end, all of which will culminate in . . . a big fling where teams of campers will build and launch their own catapult creations.

7. Robotics Summer Camp at The College of New Jersey - Fundamentals and Advanced Robotics Camp sessions at The College of New Jersey. Campers have a competition and win awards at the end of each session. Campers can sign up for one or both sessions.

High School sophomores and juniors are invited to apply for an intensive 1 week or 2 weeks summer Robotics Camp offered by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), and sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and GameX.
The intent of the camp is to motivate the most creative minds of a new generation of prospective Electrical and Computer Engineers to become global leaders in an increasingly technological world. The program aims to create a community of students who participate in and contribute to an intensive and powerful academic experience delivered by distinguished educators and professionals.
Camp participants will be introduced through a residential College academic experience to the exciting field of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and will learn topics not traditionally taught in High Schools such as Microcontroller Programming, Sensing Systems, Digital Electronics, Computer Vision, Virtual Simulations and more.
The participant will work with Electrical and Computer Engineering students and professors, and interact with professional engineers from the Industry.
TCNJ offers a superior learning environment, and these experiences take place in specialized laboratories.
