Homes for the Homeless Summer Camps offer the experience of a lifetime! This is the perfect opportunity to do rewarding work while spending the summer enjoying the outdoors and building meaningful relationships with a diverse and talented group of people. Working at HFH summer camps is ideal for students considering careers in childcare, education, psychology, social work, and/or physical education.

HFH campers come from New York City’s homeless family shelter system and have endured significant hardships in their young lives. A summer out of the city becomes a much needed escape from the stresses of shelter life. As a staff member at Camps Lanowa and Wakonda, you will have the opportunity to provide not only a safe haven for these children, but also a carefree summer experience with lasting memories. The time spent at camp is also a great opportunity for staff to work on their own interpersonal skills, improve patience and problem-solving abilities, and build special relationships to help children in need.

To make the HFH summer camp experience the best it can be, we are looking for enthusiastic team players who can work with people of all backgrounds. Our campers have been through a great deal, so patience and sensitivity are necessary. We aim to hire positive role models who possess the maturity, responsibility and genuine commitment to our children that will make this summer a truly memorable one.
