Since 1999 over 130,000 students worldwide have immersed in hands-on learning to create iPhone apps, programs with C++ and Java, video games, websites, movies, 3D models, ad designs, robots, films, and photos. What can be better than spending two full weeks with other Teens who enjoy programming as much as you do, and with staff who have the real-world programming expertise to make your projects come to life. 3. Durham Players; Summer Acting Camp for Teenagers - Intensive summer acting camp for teens ages 13-19 slated to begin July 11th, 2011 and run through August 5th. Youth will experience all aspects of the life of a performer, from auditioning to final performance.

Classes will run Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. The schedule for the first three weeks will be as follows:
9am- Noon: Acting Technique Classes
Noon- 1pm: Lunch Break (students bring their own lunches
1pm- 5pm: Rehearsal for Show

In the final week, students will perform their play at a variety of places in the community, including a Children's Home for Orphans and a retirement community. The play we will be performing is "Snow Angel" by David Lindsay-Abaire.

Students will come away from the camp not only with the experience of what it is like to be a professional actor, but will also have a solid knowledge of how to audition and prepare for a role.

This summer acting camp is an intense acting experience perfect for any child who has expressed a desire to pursue a career in entertainment. Because of the size and nature of the class and in the interest of security as well as efficiency, participants will be required to adhere to a set of behavioral rules. Any student who poses problems to the process or to others well-being may be asked to leave the program. If a student is asked to leave due to behavioral problems, the camp fee will be returned minus the deposit.

About the Director:
Heather Snow Clark is a lifetime member of the Actors Studio in NYC. She is currently training actors in the Triangle area. Heather has had the privilege of working with and studying under such esteemed artists as Harvey Keitel, Ellen Burstyn, Lee Grant, Al Pacino, Elizabeth Kemp, Arthur Penn, Gabriel Byrne, James Lipton, Donald Biehn and many others. She received her BFA in Professional Acting from East Carolina University and went on to receive her MFA in Acting from the New School for Drama. She has appeared off-Broadway as the lead, Kate Nolan, in the original Irish drama, "Reed in the Wind," as well as other stage and film projects.

4. Camp Invention - North Carolina - A week long summer enrichment day camp offered in your local elementary schools for children in second through sixth grades.

Camp Invention is a nationally recognized summer day camp that integrates science, math, history and the arts. This one-week program fosters creativity, teamwork and invention thinking skills. It allows children to learn through fun hands-on activities, subject immersion and discovery.

During the week in CREATE camp, children become automobile designers in Spills & Chills, shipwreck survivors in SOS: Suddenly Shipwrecked, and outer space pioneers in Problem Solving on Planet Zak.

During the week in DISCOVER camp, children design amusement park rides in Imagination Point: Ride Physics, conduct environmental experiments and create an enviromentally friendly city in Green Scene, and become sound engineers in Sound Busters.

5. App Design Camp - Kids will learn to create a simple, fully functional App. Kids will also learn basic programming using some of the best game design software around! No experience is necessary and students have the opportunity for Fall classes as well.

Instead of spending too much time playing apps this summer, let your child go from consumer to creator at YDS App Design Camp!

Creating & Programming a Real App
Students will learn to create a simple, fully functional App for the iPod touch®, iPhone® or iPad®.(Note, your child does not need to have an iPhone. All projects will be sent home on cd and posted to our website). Not only will they leave with an awesome new App for their (or your) device**, they will also learn basic programming using one of the best and most accessible game design software packages around!

No prior experience is necessary, and our engaging, upbeat instructors will insure everyone enjoys learning the ins and outs of app development!

Camp Details
Full-Day Camps will go in depth into App design and programming. In addition to creating more complex and polished Apps, full-day students will also be able to create custom graphics, websites, or videos for their App. This is our standard camp offering.

There are also a limited number of Half-Day openings available each week. These camps will meet in the mornings, and will focus on just the basics of App Design. Students will still create standard Apps, but with more limited exposure to App Design.

Camp Costs
Full Day 9 AM - 4 PM, please bring a sack lunch and one to two snacks. Cost $325
Half Day 9 AM -12 PM, please bring a snack. Cost $200

Before Care 8AM - 9 AM - Cost $35/Week
After Care 4 PM - 5 PM - Cost $35/Week

*Optional before and after care: Students will be supervised in quiet digital creation activities.

More About the Youth Digital Studio
The Youth Digital Studio seeks to provide students with a positive outlet for their interest in technology and media by giving them the tools to become creators and entrepreneurs instead of mere consumers.

The company was started by Justin and Molly Richards in St. Louis Missouri in November of 2010, and relocated to Durham North Carolina in August of 2011.
