Campers in grades 1-6 can explore science in a fun, interactive way. Our quality hands-on experiments, innovative curriculum and professional instructors bring your child’s understanding of science to the next level. Campers will compete in extreme sports challenges; build a detective kit and use cutting edge forensics science; thrill to building racers, planes and a gigantic roller coaster and launch the High Flyer rocket into the stratosphere. YMCA Camp Kern is the largest resident camp in the state of Ohio and is in the top ten of more than 240 YMCA camps across the United States. Camp Kern is located on 485 beautiful acres along the Little Miami River in Southwestern Ohio. We are a year-round camping facility offering programs in leadership adventure, outdoor education, summer camp, ranch, and conferences and retreats. Our summer camp program runs for 9 weeks, which includes one week of staff training and 8 weeks of resident camp.

Our summer camp is composed of a variety of programs. Boys and Girls Main Camp is for campers ages 7-14 and is divided into villages based on age: Frontier Village for ages 7-9, Explorer Village for ages 9-11, Adventure Village for ages 11-13, and Adventure Plus for 13-14. Camp Kern also offers a wide variety of teen programs including Kern Quest, Eco-Challenge, Ultimate Survivor, and many more. Circle K Ranch is for campers ages 10-16. Our out-trips program, Kern Expeditions is for campers ages 13-16. Leaders in Training (LIT) is offered to campers ages 14-15 and Counselor/Wrangler in Training (CIT/WIT) is offered to 16 year old campers. These exciting opportunities are all available at SummerBerg, a unique and exciting summer learning experience on the campus of Heidelberg College, a liberal arts college in northwest Ohio. Our residential, academic program is open to students entering grades 8-12. During each two-week session, students live together in a modern residence hall on Heidelberg's idyllic campus; they participate in organized social activities, venture out on field trips, and immerse themselves in one of nine academic programs.
