I Can Invent: Fantasy Inventions and Complicated Machines II - Use real tools to take apart old appliances and see how they work, then create a model of your own invention. Older campers participate in a Rube Goldberg team challenge.
Viking Treasure Trek: The Quest Begins – Navigate the oceans and investigate clues to locate long-lost Viking treasure!
Comic Book Science: FlyJack and Jill – Discover the science behind super powers, such as flight and DNA coding!
Land Sled X-Treme – Be a part of the winning team that engineers the ultimate land sled in an X-treme obstacle course!
Recess Remix - Creative outdoor games

Directed and taught by qualified local educators, Camp Invention is a national, non-profit science enrichment program from the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Dates: July 20-24, 2009
Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
For children entering grades 1-6

Registration fee of $205 includes snacks and a camp T-shirt

5. STEPS Engineering Camps - STEPS (Science Technology Engineering Preview Summer) Camp
Resident Camp - All Girls - Rapid City, South-Dakota

STEPS is a one-week introduction to the world of technology and engineering. Campers participate in hands-on activities that give them an understanding of what engineers do. Students will also explore science and engineering topics such as materials, clean manufacturing, CAD and team building.

Of course there is time for fun! The camp also includes a number of activities that may include swimming, pizza parties, a field trip, etc. Participants will experience dorm life, cafeteria food and learn what
it is like to be on a college campus.

This is an overnight residential camp. A room will be provided in a residence hall on the School of Mines campus for the entire week. There will be 2-4 campers per room. Counselors are assigned to the campers in a ratio of one for every 15 girls. The camp will provide all meals.

Scholarships are available for academic performance or financial need!
