Children will learn about farm life…where real food comes from & how it grows. Garden games and work are apart of our fun and accomplishments. They will work with large and small animals…understanding what it takes & how to care for them. We play games, have races and the teams compete against each other. Each camper rides horses each day and learns all about horse care. Campers will be a member of a farm family team in which they will have responsibilities. Tap Root Summer Farm Camp is about young people taking an opportunity to get back in touch with themselves. The pace of the world slows down, they will have time to share and experience nature’s reality, every moment is NOT booked with entertainment but through being surrounded by creation and all of its purpose, we learn more about ourselves and our purpose.

Connecting people and nature summarizes our mission, which we accomplish through providing hands-on learning experiences with the National Park, focusing on developing in people a greater sense of place, a deepened appreciation and awe for the diversity of life and people, and an ethics of stewardship that follows them home.
Tremont offers an in-depth learning experience that fosters an understanding of these beautiful mountains, and encourages a lifelong appreciation and stewardship of the environment. Our camps offer high quality environmental education programs that focus on Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the issues it faces. Imagine splashing around in an icy cold mountain stream, climbing ridges to an unbelievable view, or choosing from a variety of activities to discover nature through hands-on explorations, day hikes and crafts. It’s hard to imagine education being so much fun, but here at Tremont, it certainly is!

The Youth Empowerment Summit (YES!) is the first annual conference of the Tennessee Youth Environmental Network. The focus of the YES! is to encourage and inspire Tennessee youth to join the growing environmental movement and to provide them with the tools to make their lives and communities more sustainable. This five-day program will have three main focuses: energy, waste, and food. Each day, participants will take one of these environmental issues and explore it through films, games, speakers, presentations, and actions. There will also be time for students to discover the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains.

The Tennessee Youth Environmental Network (TennYEN) aims to connect student environmental clubs across Tennessee. Arranged in county coalitions, TennYEN brings together local high school and middle school clubs through coordinated solidarity days of action and campaigns. YES! will provide participants with opportunities to act on their passion beyond the summit through further involvement with TennYEN.
