Voyageurs is a unique summer opportunity that combines outdoor living, skill development, teamwork and personal growth. These elements are brought together in a simple, natural environment, designed to cultivate a sense of personal, as well as group achievement.

We encourage individuals to learn and participate in all aspects of the Voyageurs program. Participants take home fond memories of skills mastered, of challenges overcome, of new friendships created, of beautiful wilderness areas visited, and of having accomplished and learned far more then they might have ever thought possible.

Voyageurs trips are single or multi-activity outdoor adventures that provide fun, exciting, unforgettable journeys into some of the most beautiful natural areas in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and New York. Every Voyageurs trip is filled with experiences that balance wilderness skill development, experiential education and teamwork, with a focus on personal growth.

On any Voyageurs trip, participants have an opportunity to learn to use a map and compass; to bake and cook on an outdoor stove or open fire; to have minimum impact on the environment through the use of “Leave No Trace” tripping practices; to know necessary safety precautions; and to explore positive support, goal-setting, self-reliance and determination.

At Hulbert, we believe that individuals learn best that which they experience directly for themselves. In addition, thoughtful reflection with the guidance of caring adults can produce lasting, positive change in young people.

We create healthy, wholesome, simple meals and take pride in presenting an exciting menu of enjoyable trip food. Each camper is involved in meal preparation through established roles and routines. Responsibilities include preparing food, meal clean-up, and safe food storage. Mealtime is often a favorite part of each trip, not only because of the great food prepared, but also because of the community atmosphere in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Hulbert Outdoor Center has over 25-years of experience leading wilderness trips. Our staff are mature, caring and dedicated individuals who have extensive outdoor skills, as well as group leadership and teaching experience.

Safety is our number one priority during every Hulbert Voyageur’s program and all of our staff are trained in first aid and emergency evacuation procedures. Most of our staff are Wilderness First Responders, with over 80-hours of training, while others are Wilderness Emergency Medical Technicians. In addition, certified lifeguards supervise swimming on every Voyageurs trip.

If you are looking for an exciting summer adventure, good friendships and fun while living in a small community where you can both be yourself and experiment with being the person you would like to become, then Hulbert Voyageurs is for you.
