Acting Summer Camps 2011
Do you love to act and sing? Then the TREEHOUSE for creative kids (TCK) Musical Theatre & Improvisation Camps are just the right thing for you this summer. Take part in an ensemble and learn acting skills and wrap up the camp with a final presentation in front of an audience. The camp activities are packed with instructional and fun theater games and group activities, and costume and scene design. Ages 7 to 13 (rising 2nd graders to 8 graders).

The TCK experienced teaching artists and theatre practitioners facilitate a supportive, positive and fun environment for the students to participate in group activities while gaining experience in the acting process. TCK acting summer camp objectives include:

Practice fundamentals of the acting process using actor’s toolbox
Experience basic elements of production and ensemble
Participate in improvisational skits and musical performance
Every day campers participate in structured fun packed classes and activities

Art Summer Camps 2011
Is your child creative, loves to draw and is interested in arts, thrives in fun structured group activities and games? Then the TCK Art Summer Camps put your child at the heart of his/her interests!

TCK weekly summer camps offer structured art lessons and fun filled enriching group activities. TCK art camp objectives are to promote creativity, problem solving, teamwork, and personal style. The programs are designed for ages 6-13 (rising 1st graders to 8th graders). TCK instructors are professional artists and are experienced in working with students (K-12). The TCK instructors foster a positive and fun learning environment and spend one-on-one time with each student.

Every day children participate in structured fun packed classes and activities
Professional experienced instructors will lead each class
Low student-teacher ratio 8:1 or better
Campers to bring in lunch (must be peanuts and tree nuts free)
Student arts exhibit will be held each Friday. Parents are welcome to join in.

2. ArtsAbroad - Acting, Art, Music and Dance Study Abroad - ArtsAbroad provides study abroad programs in Europe and the Caribbean for high school students in the arts.

See the world while improving on your visual or performing art! ArtsAbroad is an organization based in Viginia that takes high school arts students on a summer adventure to Europe or the Caribbean. Programs focus on music, dance, acting/theatre, or art and design.

Summer 2011 Programs include:

Acting Master Class- Meisner Technique + Brussels, London and Paris
Open to any high school student or recent graduate with a serious interest in acting. Includes a workshop at London's Globe Theatre, and city tours, activities and theatre and opera in Brussels, London and Paris.

Prague Conservatory Workshop + Central Europe
Open to high school seniors and recent graduates, with a focus on preparing for university music studies. Instrumental or voice lessons at the renowned Prague Conservatory followed by a tour of important musical sights in Central Europe and attendance at the Munich Opera Festival.

International Band and Orchestra Camp + Prague, Salzburg and Vienna
Open to any high school band or orchestra student. Tour important music sights in Prague, Salzburg, and Vienna. End with Fine Arts Camp Europe in the Czech Republic and play in musical ensembles with students from around the world.

Flamenco Dance or Guitar + Spanish language in Spain
Summer in Granada! For dance and guitar students; no flamenco experience necessary. Daily Flamenco and Spanish language lessons plus attendance at the International Festival of Music & Dance. Includes a trip to Nerja, a nearby beach town.

Altos de Chavón School of Design in the Dominican Republic
Spend the summer at a medieval village in the Caribbean! Open to any high school student or recent graduate with a serious interest in drawing, graphic design, fashion design, or interior design. A weekend at a luxury beach resort is included.

3. Youth Drama Summer Camp - A week-long program that includes script dissection, character casting, and rehearsing before performing the play at a public venue. Great for developing confidence,

This is an exciting exploration of the actor’s process from activating needs to developing a complex character. Great for loosening up your body and voice, building self-confidence, and unleashing your creative spirit. The class will dissect a script, cast their characters and take a play from the page to the stage in the weeklong session.

Teaching this summer’s class is Aaron Reeder. Arron trained at Spoleto
Vocal Arts Symposium, New York Opera Studio, The American College
Theatre Festival at the Kennedy Center and studied with numerous
teachers. His most memorable moment came on the set of the summer
stock production of AIDA that he was cast in. He is currently working in the cast of Passing Strange at Studio Theater in DC.

Centerstage Inc. Children’s Theater is a program for youth, grades K to 10th, designed to raise an individual’s awareness towards strengthening their self-esteem by using the methods of Performance Arts. So why the Arts? The Arts allows the ability to transform and create worlds of imagination thru speech, movement, and presentation. Be implementing Performing Arts into the youth population, it will drive them to motivate themselves and each other; ultimately resulting in reaching their full potential.

Shakespeare's Time Traveling Players Boot Camp!
June 27th - July 1st, 9am-3pm

(Grades 6-9) One week crash course in the world of William Shakespeare! Students will experience History as we walk back to the 16th century with a troupe of Shakespearian Actors who will be visiting Del Ray in their Time traveling Wagon! This troupe of actors make their living traveling through time teaching and performing the great Bard of Avons words and works! They will park their wagon and turn it into a stage for a week this summer to teach a lucky group of students all there is to know about Elizabethan England, The World of Shakespeare, How to Act Shakespeare, Swordplay and Fisticuffs, Poetry and more! Students will learn to write a Sonnet and perform some of the Shakespeare's greatest scenes, monologues and poems. Fun Costumes and makeup culminate in an public performance by students on the Time Wagons Stage! Tuition: $500

(Grades 4-7) Students have fun and learn the ways of the “Force” in this one-week intro to acting/ beginning stage combat camp. In this camp young Jedi will hone their story telling skills by learning basic acting skills, character creation and the basics of choreographed stage combat (hair and ear pulls, punches, slaps, kicks, and falls) incorporating “Star Wars” themes. All techniques taught during this week of fun are approved by the Society of American Fight Directors and emphasize safety and cooperation. During the week, students will develop choreographed “Star Wars” themed performance scenes utilizing the techniques learned during the camp. The final day of camp will culminate with performances of the scenes created during the week. Tuition: $500

The School of Jazz Camp with teach young musicians some of the basic fundamentals of Jazz music, from learning about the history of Jazz music to the art of improvisation.
