Thunderbird Ranch Summer Camp for children ages is actively seeking qualified applicants for our 2009 season. Current available positions include RIDING INSTRUCTORS and activity counselors. Thunderbird Heroes must be a minimum age of 18, possess one year of college, Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and Life Guard certifications and be able to teach or assist in one or more of the following activities: Many positions open:

Arts & Crafts / English & Western Riding / Vaulting (Gymnastics on Horseback) / Sports / Swimming
Archery / Mountain Biking / Gymnastics / Fishing

H: Hard working helping hands to pitch in and go the extra mile while working enthusiastically with children of all ages, races, cultures, religions, interests and abilities. A sense of humor that radiates with an enthusiasm for living, and patience, and a positive self-image requisite for role modeling.

E: Education: The ability to instruct, assist, and motivate children in a variety of specialized and creative activities and sports such as swimming, horsemanship, archery, arts and crafts and more with the understanding that every situation can be a learning experience in itself.

R: A sense of Responsibility for campers, self, peers and authority figures, and an understanding of the dynamics of child care in a small outdoor team working environment, with a willingness to go without many creature comforts of home.

O: Organizational skills necessary to meet scheduled activities with minimal supervision and maximum "take charge" enthusiasm. Moreover, organizational skills that are essential to the health and safety of both children and staff alike.

Tucked away in the heart of the wine country, located just one and a half hours north of San Francisco, Thunderbird Ranch offers the beautiful rolling hills of Sonoma County with over 600 acres of ranch land on the Russian River. The architecture of the facilities and outbuildings on the ranch provide a Wild west setting and contain numerous artifacts that enrich our local history. Our clean and comfortable sleeping accommodations for staff include authentic Plains Indian teepees, 1926 Northwestern Pacific Railroad Caboose, refurbished Conestoga wagons and a model Railroad Station House. A central bathhouse (the "County Seat") offers private sanitary facilities and hot showers. Our small camp size provides for an excellent counselor to camper ratio of 1:5.

Staff arrive for a 1 week pre-camp orientation in June and depart in August following post-camp closure. Base Salary range for a seasonal commitment of 8 weeks, Monday thru Friday, 8AM to 5PM. Salary is $2,880-$3,250, depending upon experience. Room & Partial Board are also provided.
