Do you want to make a positive difference in the lives of children and work in an environment where you can explore your own potential? Then Birch Trail is the place for you!After a summer at camp, you'll think of Birch Trail as your second home.
Cabin counselors get to live in a cabin and co-supervise a group of 6-12 campers. We provide extensive training on how to help your campers have the best summer possible. Cabin counselors should be fun, enthusiastic people who love working with children and having a good time. You'll also lead or assist in teaching 2-3 activities based on your skills and interests. We are hiring for all activity areas, but we are especially looking for people with skills in yoga, mountain biking, fitness, climbing, photography, knitting, sailing, wilderness skills, and life guarding.
You can be part of one of the country's premiere tripping programs! Depending on their own experiences, Trip Leaders guide cabin groups on 3-8 day trips in basic camping, backpacking, flat-water and white-water canoeing, sea kayaking, horseback riding, and rock climbing. Some destinations include the Porcupine Mountains, Sylvania National Forest, Isle Royale, Boundary Waters Canoe Area, MN and WI State Parks and the Superior Hiking Trail. Under direction of Trip Director, you will arrange for trip logistics, pick routes, and pack equipment and food. Must be 21 years of age or older, hold current CPR, First Aid, and LGT. We will provide WFR training if needed.
Be a member of the team that runs Birch Trail's 60 foot-tall, 3-sided outdoor climbing tower! Climbing Staff members are responsible for instructing campers on climbing skills and overseeing all safety aspects of the activity. Applicants should have experience in climbing, setting up top rope climbs, and wall set-up and safety. We can help train you in any of these areas if they are new to you. Climbing Instructors also have the opportunity to go on rock climbing trips in MN.
Be a member of our Administrative team working in the office, answering and directing phone calls, talking with parents, helping with camper concerns, monitoring our database, and other light office duties. An Office Assistant at Birch Trail needs to have previous office experience and a genuine interest in working with kids.
Be a member of our Nursing team ensuring the health and safety, and attending to the medical needs of our 300+ campers and staff. Applicants should have one of the following certifications: RN, LPN, Grad Nurse, EMT - we cover costs for WI state reciprocity.
Spend your days outside on Birch Trail's tennis courts! The Tennis Pro will have the opportunity to design and lead lessons for both group and individualized instruction. Applicants for this position should have experience teaching tennis to children with different skill levels and some experience playing tennis on a competitive level.
Perfect your culinary skills by cooking daily meals for 300 people. Assist with food preparation, service, and clean-up. Work with experienced camp cooks and kitchen manager. Depending on your interests, there are also opportunities to bake desserts and cook vegetarian meals.
Manage one of the busiest and most exciting areas in camp! Our Craft Shop houses facilities for pottery, ceramics, stained glass, jewelry making, tie dye, knitting, and countless other projects. Design creative lesson plans for each crafts class. Applicants should have great organizational skills, and be imaginative, patient, and fun, but don't need to be experts in all of the crafts offered at camp.
There's nothing like singing at Birch Trail! Lead camp song sessions and camp fires through guitar playing. Depending on experience and skills, you may organize a camp chorus or teach guitar lessons too. If you are interested, you can also be a cabin counselor.
Work with campers and staff to maintain Birch Trail's many flower and vegetable gardens. Develop plans to update camp's beautiful landscaping. Many opportunties to be involved in other areas of the camp program.
Spend your summer helping to document all the excitement at camp through pictures and film. The Camp Photographer & Videographer will be responsible for taking daily pictures, uploading pictures to the website, filming camp events, editing film using Adobe, and instructing campers about black & white film development and picture printing.
Assist with the wilderness trips program by arranging transportation for campers and equipment to camping locations all over the upper Midwest. Must be at least 21 years old and have an excellent driving record. CDL is preferred but not required.
