Summary: To provide care, supervision and recreation for campers with developmental and physical disabilities

Salary: $267.00 per week, when 40 hours (Compare to $44.50 per working day) or more are worked in a work week, or $9.35 per hour when you work 40 hours or less in a work week.

Hours of Work: 24 hours a day care responsibility, 6 days a week with an hour break daily

Contract dates: June 18th- August 19th, 2018

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist in cabin and camp activities

Reside in cabins with campers and assist campers with all daily living activities

Assist campers with personal care including dressing, feeding, bathing, transferring and toileting

Help to interpret health and safety rules. Assures that Easterseals’ Safety Program and security procedures are carefully observed to reduce work-related injuries. Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines, reporting potentially unsafe conditions. Uses equipment and materials properly

Keep track of campers clothing and personal property

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with campers, staff and the general public

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Department of Justice fingerprint clearance or satisfactory criminal background check arranged by Easter Seals Central California

Other Qualifications: Be at least 18 years of age by May 31 of the year summer camp session begins. Must complete a personal assessment through the interview process

Must have the physical ability to push campers in wheelchairs through the hilly terrain of Camp. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Camp Nurse

Contract dates: June 7th-August 19th, 2018

Summary: The Camp Nurses (2) are the primary health care providers for the eighty campers and fifty staff members at the Camp. A physician is available three miles away from Camp, a hospital is located eleven miles away with emergency response by ambulance approximately three miles away.

Work Schedule: Two nurses are employed and both work each session. Both nurses must remain on-site 24 hours per day while camp is in session.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. This position works under the Routine Orders and Health Care Plans provided by Physician.

2. Nurse must be prepared to act quickly to emergency health situations or injuries on Camp. The Nurse is the responsible party in charge in a health-related emergency.

3. Reviews health history of campers and staff. Maintains records in confidential files.

4. Performs camper arrival/departure health checks and reviews, including discussions with parents or caregivers. Responsible for checking in, logging and the storage of all medications.

5. Monitors health of campers and staff for illness and treats or refers appropriately.

6. When necessary, isolates a camper or staff in the infirmary and supervises their care for up to twenty-four hours. Determines after that time period if the camper or staff member returns to activities or is sent home.

7. Responsible for clean, safe and orderly condition of the infirmary; maintains inventory of health supplies and orders supplies as necessary.

8. Dispenses and administers all medications. Should the nurse dispensing medication be called away on a life-threatening emergency, the second nurse will dispense the medication. No one besides the RN or a licensed physician may dispense medication.

9. Maintains separate daily logs of camper and staff visits, care and treatment.

10. Assures that Easter Seals’ Safety Program and security procedures are carefully observed to reduce work-related injuries. Determines and reports potentially unsafe conditions. Uses equipment and materials properly.

11. Works as part of the Camp team to ensure campers have a safe, positive experience. Maintains positive work relationships and communicates issues with Camp Director promptly.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Education/Experience: Current Registered Nurse license with Experience as a Registered Nurse required. Experience working with people with special needs highly preferred. Emergency room experience a plus.

Language Skills: Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, with campers, staff, parents and caregivers and the general public. Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, medical orders, prescriptions and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and records. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from campers, staff and the general public

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions..

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be currently licensed to work in California. Must have Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance and a clear criminal background check as arranged by Easter Seals Central California.

Other Qualifications: Must be 21 years of age
