About the Author:

Mr. Richman is eminently qualified to be designated "Professor of Camping." He spent 24 years at one of the premier summer camps in the U.S.A. - "Trails End Camp" - in Beach Lake, Pa. Here, under the guidance of some of the finest camp administrators ever known (virtual Vince Lombardi's to the 3rd power), he went up the ranks - 6 years as a camper where he suffered through homesickness, fear of water, and anxieties of all sorts. In addition, he did enjoy the pleasures of being a "camp kid". He served as a waiter for 2 years and then six as general counsellor, four as groupleader, seven more as athletic staff specialist and King of Comedy and Mishigos (fun and silliness), and Pied Piper to thousands of adoring kids who shall never forget their days at Trail's End with Mark.

Mark Richman is an extremely successfully teacher in the tough NYC public school system. Lecturing both locally and nationally on his classroom management techniques, he has coached thousands of successful teachers. His camping success has been equally documented. His entire professional life has been successfully dedicated to relating to children and adults in educational and values - enhancing situations.

As far as his teaching career:

Mark Richman has been teaching for over 23 years - all in the New York City Public Schools. He worked 18 of those years on the middle school level at JHS 43 in Brooklyn, where he served as a math teacher and as Dean of Discipline. He has now been teaching for 5 years at Abraham Lincoln H.S. in Brooklyn, where he teaches both calculus and fundamentals of math. He also serves as his schools' union leader. Mr. Richman has lectured on "classroom management and motivation" extensively, both nationally for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and locally for the NYC Public Schools. He is the author of two books: "Just Let Me Survive Today (A Primer in Classroom Management and Motivation), and "High Caliber Kids" (A Book Of Interdisciplinary Values Education).
