More About Camp
Summer Session focuses on skills building, and offers three academic core courses, with electives that include science, computer graphics, video editing and Instructional Support. Credit may be obtained for successful completion of a core course. Each of the core programs listed below meet two hours daily and will have daily homework; to be completed in mentor supported study halls:
1. The English program offers an intensive course in reading and writing skills.
2. The Mathematics program offers intensive courses in pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II.
3. The English as a Second Language program focuses on reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
The optional Instructional Support (IS) program is an opportunity for one or two students to meet with a teacher for skills support. This class meets daily as an elective course. The IS teacher targets areas that need improvement, and coordinates with the core course teacher. Students are given support with reading, writing, math, study and/or organizational skills based on their specific needs. Instructional Support has an additional fee.
The afternoon adventure recreation program enhances problem-solving, team-building and critical thinking skills with activities including: rock climbing, wilderness skills, canoeing, kayaking, studio art, field sports, and use of the gymnasium and fitness center. On weekends, there will be a variety of activities and scenic, fun and cultural field trips.
