Burke Museum summer camps get you behind-the-scenes and up-close with real museum artifacts and specimens! Whether your kids love dinosaurs or butterflies, science or music, there's something here for them. Uncover fossils in our "Dinos" camp, or learn to make stone tools like our early human ancestors in "Into the Ice Age." Learn to dance and play to music from around the Pacific, or make model boats for a model boat race!
Steelhead: Kindergarten and 1st grade
Half-day "Little Dinos" and "Pacific Explorers" camps. Uncover fossils and step into the life of a dinosaur, or explore the plants, animals, and peoples from around the Pacific Ocean. Morning sessions run 9 - 12, afternoons from 1 - 4. Combine a morning and afternoon session for a discounted rate!
Sockeye: 2nd and 3rd grade
Full day "Dinos," "Pacific Summer Cruise," and "Songs of the Pacific" camps. Make fossil casts to take home, build model boats, or learn the rhythms from around the Pacific.
Coho: 4th and 5th grade
Full day "Emeralds and Earthquakes," "Into the Ice Age," and "Dr. Mossbreath's Mystery" camps. Build a model house to survive an earthquake disaster, check out Seattle's recently uncovered mammoth tusk, or sleuth out the mysteries of Dr. Mossbreath's treasure around the museum.
Chinook: 6th- 8th grade
Full day "Explore Archaeology," "Girls in Science," "Fernbeard Forensics," and "Wild and Endangered" camps. Learn to plot out an excavation to learn about our human ancestors, work with leading women scientists around the University of Washington, investigate evidence of past damage to artifacts and fossils, or explore our natural history collections to find out what you can do to protect endangered species.
