More About Camp
Since 1999, Camp Cavaignac's mission has been to provide young children, ages seven to thirteen, with wholesome, artistic and dynamic experiences. With a wide variety of activities ranging from the very active to the more creative and calm, we hope to give young campers a week to remember. The camp encourages each camper to involve him or herself in new experiences in order to strengthen self confidence and character. But also, we understand the importance of leaving time for children to explore on their own, developing themselves as individuals. At Camp Cavaignac, children can still be children.
With a beautiful French style farmhouse and fifty bucolic acres, Camp Cavaignac accommodates forty campers. Three hearty and delicious meals (child approved!) will be served throughout the day as well as snacks.
Located in the north delta town of Ryde, half mile from the Sacramento River the fifty acre facility consists of expansive lawns, animal pastures, stable and riding arena (campers can elect to take one-on-one horseback riding lessons), a large swimming pond complete with beach, island, boats and floating dock, the famous "ropeswing" and lots of animals! The nearby river provides tons of boating fun and the country roads are perfect for long bike rides and picnics, while a huge patio is a great stage for dancing and musical ensembles.
Camp Cavaignac empowers each child as every day, campers can dictate their own schedules by selecting from a wide variety of activities, including soccer, jazz and hip-hop dance lessons, board games, horseback riding, swimming, boating, bike riding, music ensemble, vocal instruction, arts and crafts, and much, much more. Every night before bed, campers gather around the campfire and roast s’mores while listening to stories, watching skits, or performing their own unique talents for each other.
