Camp Illahee is set in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains thirty minutes southeast of Asheville North Carolina. Celebrating 84 years of excellence in summer camping for girls, Illahee offers a full range of traditional camp programs for girls ages 7 to 17. Our high return rate (80%)reflects a program that emphasizes fun and personal growth in a gorgeous setting. A Christian camp, we work to find counselors who will be wonderful role models for campers. Illahee is unique in its individual care given to each camper and in the quality of leadership. We maintain a 3:1 camper to counselor ratio with a qualified staff of college students and graduates, many of whom are former campers who want to give back to Illahee what they gained as campers themselves.

Illahee's programs are enhanced by our beautiful grounds and facility. The wide variety of activities offered helps campers develop many areas of skill. Activities include studio arts - watercolor, weaving, woodworking, needlecraft, ceramics; sports such as tennis, soccer, field hockey and basketball; riflery and archery; swimming, diving and synchronized swimming; horseback riding and vaulting; rock climbing, canoeing and kayaking; drama, dance and gymnastics. Day hikes and overnights also provide the opportunity to enjoy the mountains near the camp.

Many campers look forward to evening programs as well as community time in the dining hall where delicious family style meals are served. Enduring friendships often begin in the cabin where each camper lives with 6 or 7 campers and a senior counselor. The Junior Counselor and CIT programs offer leadership opportunities for older campers.Illahee means "Heavenly World" in the Cherokee language.
