Camp Jewell's Ranch Camp program is designed for boys and girls ages 7-15 that are interested in learning and expanding their horseback riding skills. Riders are grouped by both age and ability in one of seven riding groups. Campers will ride in the English style.
The Ranch Camp Program is designed to give horse enthusiasts ages 7 to 15 the opportunity to live in a close community that focuses on learning and developing riding ability and horsemanship skills. Although the tradition of Ranch camp is a western theme, all riding is English style. We offer seven levels of riding classes to accommodate riders of all abilities from the first time rider to those with years of experience. In addition to mounted lessons, campers will also have un-mounted horsemanship classes, the opportunity for at least one trail ride, a chance to try out vaulting, time to go on a horse drawn wagon ride, and everyone in Ranch participates in the daily care of our 30+ horses.
We believe that all riders whether beginner, intermediate or advanced should receive the same quality of instructions and attention to detail. This means from day one we teach our riders to ride in a sophisticated manner using their minds and bodies competently to provide a solid foundation to grow as riders.
When not working with horses, campers also get to enjoy many fun activities of traditional camp such as climbing, swimming, arts and crafts, team building games, camping out, campfires and more!
All campers live Hide-A-Way Ranch, a separate property located across the lake from Main Camp. The property features its own dining hall, cabins, climbing tower, and riding facility. Campers, however, do participate in and enjoy main camp programs such as capture the flag, campfires, and waterfront activities.
