Camp Sequoia, is an overnight camp for children and teens ages 8-17 who need help developing their social skills. Utilizing Michelle Garcia Winner's Social Thinking framework we integrate the social thinking concepts and language into a traditional camp program. Campers choose most of their activities and swim twice per day. Weekly trips as well as optional overnight trips highlight our innovative program.
Camp Sequoia serves campers who do not need the level of support that special needs overnight camps offer yet need more than a traditional camp can offer. Our campers come from across the U.S.A. and internationally to be with us in the summer. Our campers are boys and girls with average to above average intelligence and developed language skills. The majority of our campers are diagnosed with neurological profiles that include: ADHD, mild Asperger's Syndrome, high-functioning autism and nonverbal learning differences. The focus of Camp Sequoia is to help campers improve their social skills through an innovative, active program. We offer a full season 6 week session and two separate 3 week sessions.
Located on the beautiful campus of a boarding school in Pottstown,PA (40 miles northwest of Philadelphia) Camp Sequoia is the first overnight summer camp to incorporate the Social Thinking framework into a traditional camp program. We have a staff to camper ratio of 1:3. Camp Sequoia has been featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper as well as various online publications.
