The purpose of Camp Start-Up is too unlock the entrepreneurial spirit, help teens turn ideas into intention, and give them practical financial knowledge and skills as a foundation for economic preparedness in a changing global economy.
Camp Start-Up is a 10-day residential program designed to introduce teens to key concepts of financial fluency and inspire them to unleash their entrepreneurial spirit. Through a fun, fast, interactive curriculum, campers learn the basics of entrepreneurship, budgeting, investing, and saving. Working in teams, they form a mock startup, produce a business plan, and acquire skills for independence and self-confidence. They also gain a sense of direction that helps them stand out when applying to college.
To celebrate its 20th Anniversary, Camp Start-Up is going to England this summer for a once in a lifetime experience designed to hone participants’ entrepreneurial skills against the background of venerable Oxford University!
Working with our partner, The Skoll Foundation, and taking advantage of the best of what Oxford has to offer, we are designing a program that will focus on social entrepreneurship as a vehicle for solving the worlds’ most pressing problems.
Past participants tell us the whole camp is fun, but we make sure to have room for plenty of extras, including an impromptu kickball game before bed; a Jeopardy-style tournament; an afternoon trip to local eateries, museums and other attractions; and time to just hang out with new friends.
Camp Start-Up 2014 will be held at The Queen's College, University of Oxford, England from August 8-17, 2014.
