Homes for the Homeless Summer Camps offer the experience of a lifetime! This is the perfect opportunity to do rewarding work, while you spend a summer enjoying the outdoors and building meaningful relationships with diverse and interesting people.
Working at HFH summer camps is ideal for students considering careers in childcare, education, psychology, social work, and/or physical education. HFH campers come from New York City’s homeless family shelter system and have endured significant stress and hardships in their young lives. As a staff member at Camps Lanowa and Wakonda, you have the chance to touch the lives of these children in providing the safe haven and untroubled, carefree experience of a summer out of the city and the shelter, here at camp. Moreover, this is a great opportunity for staff to work on their own interpersonal skills, improve patience and problem-solving abilities, and build special relationships to help children in need.
To make the HFH summer camp experience the best it can be, we are looking for enthusiastic team players that can work with people of all backgrounds. Our campers have been through a lot, so patience and sensitivity are necessary. In the best interest of the HFH kids, we are looking to hire positive role models who possess the maturity, responsibility and genuine commitment to the children that will make this summer memorable.
