More About Camp
The Camp Walden Summer Program is designed for children ages 3 to 8 with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The purpose of this program is to cover the gap of instruction between the end of the school year and the beginning of the extended school year for students with autism.
The program will use small group instruction guided by the principles of applied behavior analysis to target learning areas such as:
• Play skills/Sustained Play
• Elementary Social Skills/Peer Interactions
• Group Instruction
• Sports and Athletic Skills
Naturally embedded in the program will be opportunities for students to receive academic instruction through incidental teaching strategies and aligned with each student’s current level of performance.
The Camp Walden Summer Program will provide a positive social learning environment where children with ASD can learn and grow socially in a setting designed to respond to their individual needs.
Children will be involved in outdoor play, arts & crafts activities, music and dancing, and many other activities to provide each student with opportunities for social learning.
