More About Camp
Camp Wyandot can free our youth from the bonds of tests, competition and video games, even if just for a week. Recent research has shown children are suffering with physical, behavioral and emotional problems that can be traced to a disconnect with nature. At Wyandot, we reunite children and nature in our rustic screened cabins, communal dining hall, and on our gorgeous grounds in the foothills of the Appalachians. We teach map and compass, hiking, firebuilding and outdoor cooking. The children see rare plants and animals, as well as vegetation and critters common to the region. Children thrive in cooperative, small, single-gender cabin groups. They learn new skills in this safe environment, and they learn to take responsibility for tasks around the cabin. In larger, co-ed groups, youth participate in fun, adventurous activities and enjoy time at the pool and on the lake.
