Our camps are taught by experts or world class professionals and take place in the stunningly beautiful Columbia Gorge River Valley.
Photography is our most popular camp. Teens will work with award winning photographers to enhance their own skills and create visual memories of their amazing summer. We think the Columbia Gorge is a photographer’s paradise…rivers, waterfalls, snow-covered mountains, ancient forests and blue skies contribute to a perfect setting for nature photography.
Climbing Camp is geared towards active teens of all skill levels who are passionate about climbing. Our camp provides teens with a unique opportunity to learn and be inspired by world class-celebrity climbers Lynn Hill and Beth Rodden at Smith Rocks. From our base camp along the COLUMBIA RIVER, we will go out each day to different climbing areas in the Gorge. Instructors will cover the basics, and then move on to advanced climbing skills.
Paddle sports Campers will get to experience an overnight canoe trip on the John Day River, stand up paddle boarding, white water rafting and two days of surfing on the Long Beach Peninsula of Washington.
Music Camp merges the instrumental skills of our campers as they learn from world class musicians Dylan Charles and Ira Nepus. Camp will culminate in a musical show played live. Music Discovery Camp will focus on bringing together teens whose individual interests span a wide range of styles. An open mind and zest for innovation are the key components that will enable you to make the most of this experience.
Martial Arts camp is taught by Sensei Padme Grace and will focus on strengthening the body and mind, while taking in the natural beauty of the Gorge.
The Columbia Gorge Teen Camps are the brainchild of Dr. Bob Hanson who is our current President. Bob received his PhD in camp counseling and camp administration and taught camp counseling at San Diego State University for 23 years. He is considered one of the foremost authorities on resident summer camps for youth on the west coast. The emphasis at our camp is always on safety, fun and learning new skills. Parent references available upon request.
In addition to our five camp specialties, Music, Photography, Martial Arts, Paddles Sports & Climbing, we will be focusing a lot on traditional outdoor camping activities. These include white water rafting, surfing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, campfire cooking, storytelling, games and all the other fun that a traditional camp offers.
