Make-believe worlds spring off the page in an idyllic rustic forest setting near the beach! In teams, students plan and perform their stories (real or imagined) based on mythological Greek characters (demigods, such as Percy Jackson).
Through indoor and outdoor games and role playing students learn about literature, innovation, science, and philosophy; design and construct labyrinths, protective amulets, masks, costumes and hand-made musical instruments; train and learn the rules of engagement for capture-the-flag, chariot games, and more! With current events as a backdrop, students learn about innovation ranging from the inventions of Ancient Greece to Space exploration setting the stage for learning 21st Century Themes. Students are introduced to mentors both in person and through SKYPE. They meet professionals from the Arts, Film, Games, Drama, Science, & Technology through DIGIVATIONS interactive ImagineSTEM™ blog and weDIGIVATE™ eCommunity. Rocketrey, LEGO Robotics & MinecraftEdu on DIGIVATIONS Server become part of the theatre. Recreation time: bon fires, beach time, and skits.
Camp Demigod is focused on kids having fun, learning and collaborating while creating life long relationships, acquiring leadership skills through DIGIVATIONS mentorship network and developing their emotional, social and physical intelligences enabling them to share a sense of community with others. Camp Demigod participants will develop a positive self awareness and image strengthening their ability to help themselves and others demonstrate, through thoughtful leadership positive change, breaking down the barriers and isolation caused by cliquish patterns often encountered in school and their lives. Campdemigod participants will show by example the evolutionary changes and possibilities enabled through a Pay It Forward model as they take on mentor qualities and become mentors both at Camp and well into their lives. Camp Demigod participants will always know that they are part of an extended family.
