Have you ever thought about a career in game design? Or wondered how to protect your computer from getting hacked? Want to know how to create your own smartphone app?
Ferris State University offers week-long summer camps in Grand Rapids for teens 14 and up. Get a taste of what it’s like to be a computer animator or a game designer. Become a super sleuth, learning how to crack passwords and restore deleted files. Create your own app for a smartphone or tablet. Explore the hottest information technology careers one week at a time. Get a taste of one area or all three and see if you’re cut out for a career in software engineering, digital animation, game design, or digital forensics.
Students interested in computer software and what makes technology run will enjoy the Digital Media Software Academy. In this series, you will learn how to develop and create applications for smartphones, PCs, the Internet, and Xbox 360 while being introduced to the powerful programming language C#, used by professionals in the gaming industry and businesses around the world. Two advanced levels are also available for those that complete level one.
The Digital Animation & Game Design series is a workshop to learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling, texturing, lighting and animation and create game levels using a 3D real-time game engine. We will help you develop a 3D game level or 3D animation that will be presented on the afternoon of the final day of camp. Advanced camps are also available.
Learn the latest trends in computer crime and techniques in information security in the newest camp section, Digital Forensics. You will learn how to recover text messages, restore deleted files and crack passwords!
Students should have familiarity and be comfortable using a Windows PC computer environment. For more information and exact camp dates, contact Ferris-Grand Rapids at (616) 451-4777.
