More About Camp
Our camp is located on 240 beautiful acres of rolling fields and forest bordering the serene Flat Rock River in east-central Indiana. The site is 45 minutes from downtown Indianapolis and just over an hour from Cincinnati. We are a traditional YMCA camp that is accredited by the American Camping Association. Our programs offer a wide range of group, individual, creative, and athletic activities. We have a 50 foot tall Alpine Tower II, a multi element low ropes course, separate rock climbing and rappelling sites, basketball, and volleyball courts, a soccer/baseball field, arts and crafts, a pool, pond, access to the river, target sport ranges, and an equestrian ranch with riding corrals and bridal trails. We focus on instilling the Character Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in all our campers.
Main Camp is a traditional YMCA program for ages 8-13 where kids stay in cabins based on their age and gender. Campers choose three Clinics to attend each week and participate in a mixture of all camp events, cookouts, evening programs, and individual cabin activities. Some of the choices include archery, arts and crafts, canoeing, dance, drama, fishing, hiking, kayaking, low ropes course, and soccer.
Ranch Camp offers 11-15 year olds the chance to learn or to develop equestrian skills. This program focus on horse care and psychology, fitting tack, Western riding, stable management, and overnight trips on property.
Challenger is and adventure based program involving our 50 foot Alpine Tower, rock climbing, rappelling, off-site camping trips, hiking, tubing down the river, and more for 13-15 year olds.
Our teen leadership programs for older teens follow two tracks. Ranch Hand and Wrangler In Training are for those who wish to expand their equestrian skills and training abilities. The Leadership Development Program and Counselor In Training build solid leaders for life, both outside camp and as potential staff members in the future.
Mini Camp is a three day program for 7-9 year olds who are not sure about going away for an entire week. Mini Campers get to participate in typical days and activities that happen at camp. Mini Camp runs either from Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday. This is a great introduction to YMCA overnight camping.
