WELCOME TO HILLSIDE SUMMER TERM
If there's a question most frequently asked of independent schools regarding their summer programs, it's this: "Is it academic, recreational or a combination of the two?" Our answer is a resounding yes!
The Program
Located on 200 acres of land in Marlborough, Massachusetts, the Hillside School campus is home to our summer term. Our expansive facility includes academic buildings, dormitories, computer access, library, student center and dining hall. The campus offers many on-site activity choices including an outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, playing fields and a working farm. In addition, your son or daughter may participate in variety of educational and recreational off-campus activities. The summer term includes academic enrichment in English, Math and the Computer Sciences, Outdoor Adventures, the farm experience, as well as athletic offerings.
Academic Enrichment
Academic enrichment courses are offered in language arts, mathematics and computer science. Specific topics include reading, writing and study skills, creative writing, arithmetic, pre-algebra and geometry, and various levels of computer programming and instruction.
Leadership Training
Outdoor Adventure gives students the opportunity to build self-confidence and leadership abilities through a ropes course, climbing wall, hiking and the School's working farm program. Sports and recreational offerings include, basketball, tennis, soccer, swimming, and volleyball. In addition, a full-day soccer program that focuses on technical and tactical fundamentals is offered in two one-week sessions.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
Designed for our international
students, our ESL courses focus on the major strands of the English language, which include reading, writing, structured grammar,
listening, speaking and vocabulary. Additionally, the small groups learn about American culture.
The Soccer Experience
In addition to our Summer Program, the school offers an opportunity to improve your soccer skills with us. The clinic is directed by Rex Osae, our Varsity Soccer Coach. Two one week sessions are offered with the option of enrolling in one or both weeks for a full or half-day.
Enrollment and Registration
Our coed program is for children ages 5-14 who may enroll in our day or boarding program. We also offer a Counselors-in-Training Program for students who are at least 15 years of age. The summer term runs for 4 weeks, divided into two week sessions.
