Looking for a summer camp that gets kids immersed in nature, living simply, and tech free? JRC offers a community of positive individuals enjoying the simpler things in life, ranch living, and the satisfaction of learning and growing.
Jameson Ranch Camp offers an alternative to the pressured and chaotic world in which today’s kids live. We do that by using our sustainable working ranch as a living stage where campers discover and grow. We carefully cultivate our program to offer kids the opportunity of choice: what to do, where to go, and most importantly, who they want to be. JRC’s culture emphasizes a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and the warmth of family. This is why so many campers return to us year after year.
The JRC program is designed to promote independent thinking and responsibility, and these concepts are woven into our daily life. Campers choose daily from a wide variety of activities; this gives them the opportunity to be responsible for their own experience. Children have a “chore,” a 15-20 minute daily job that provides them with a sense of contribution to ranch life. Our camp is small, only 80 campers per session; this keeps our staff to camper ratio at about five to one.
Our staff are selected to be good role models. We do background checks, extensive interviews, and a weeklong training orientation that familiarizes counselors to our philosophy, teaches them ways to positively interact with kids, and bolsters their program skills.
JRC offers outside accommodations; campers sleep under the stars on sleeping porches; we provide cots and mattresses, campers bring sleeping bags. Our kitchen staff prepares meals daily from scratch. We use no pre-packaged or processed food, much of it is organic, and serve many of the vegetables that we grow in our garden. The food at every meal is optional, and there are always vegetarian options.
JRC has a long history of excellence, providing a fantastic summer program for thousands of children over the years. We would love to help provide your camper with an unforgettable summer.
