More About Camp
Jameson Ranch Camp is a real ranch in the southern sierras, about 3 hours north of Los Angeles. We are a private camp / family run business that assists campers in developing skills, fun, friendships, and wholesome values. From learning to ride a horse, to making friends from people all over the world, camp is a unique place for growth and self development. Our wonderful staff exemplify positive, traditional, role modeling and campers learn many "lifelong learnables" in friendships and outdoor skills. Each day campers choose from the many fun and challenging outdoor programs offered. We also involve campers with ranch experiences (like animal care, gardening and construction projects) which connect kids with the camp community and show them that they are an important part of the working ranch.

The horse program is a fantastic way for children to learn riding and develop higher level skills. Our lessons in western and bareback start at the beginning levels. As the rider progresses through lessons to higher groups, lots of additional activities are added. The advanced riders help deliver the mail by pony express each morning, help with cattle drives and ride bareback to gather horses from the mountain pastures early in the morning. An overnight camp trip on horseback happens each session. We also offer Horse vaulting, which teaches gymnastic moves on the back of a horse being lunged in a circle. The vaulters put on a great show for parents on the last day of the session. Our cart driving program teaches campers to harness a horse, attach it to a cart and drive the cart along the dirt roads.

If you want to cool off and develop your water skills, visit the pool or go boating on our small private lake. The canoes, kayaks and sailboats offer lessons and fun games. For a great ride, take a mountain bike lesson or climb a rock in the rock-climbing class. Learn to shoot a 22 rifle or a bow and arrow at target practice.

For the performing arts at JRC there are many opportunities! The crafts area is always open and quite popular, with everything from candles to woodwork being offered. A drama production happens every session and amazes parents when they arrive on Saturday to watch it performed on our outdoor stage. Music is a big part of life here on the ranch. We sing before each meal and in the evenings. And there's the talent show where talent isn,t needed!

If you like animals, come to camp. We have a baby animal program, in addition to the cows, horses, chickens, goats, pigs, dogs and, of course, cats.

Food is a delight!! The garden provides big and luscious vegetables, the chickens lay organic eggs. The outdoor oven bakes homemade bread and roasts our ranch beef. (vegetarian options are available.) The milk cow still needs to be milked twice a day.

Jameson Ranch Camp provides a quality experience that generates a lifetime of fabulous memories and abilities.
