At Resource Depot’s Junk Camp, children spend the day exploring the possibilities within all the discarded materials in the world around us, learning new ways of transforming everyday objects into extraordinary works of art, developing their imaginations, problem solving skills, and love for the environment in a fun, hands-on way that is unique to Resource Depot! Each day includes a fun mix of staff-led projects and age-appropriate free play and experimentation in a variety of themes, including collage/assemblage, sculpture, jewelry, and sewing. Students entering kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome.
Campers should expect to make 3 major projects and 1 group project per week. There will be a Junk Camp exhibition at the end of each week.
Complete information is available in the registration packet.
Junk Camp is $185 per child, per week, or $175 for Resource Depot members. Payment is due in full at the time of registration. Kindergarten-5th Grade (for 2016-17 school year) welcome.
Drop Off/Pick Up & Extended Care Policy
Camp runs from 9:00am to 3:00 pm. Drop off at 8:30am; extended care from 3:30 to 4:40 is available a rate of $35/camper/week.
What to Wear & Bring
Campers must wear closed-toed shoes and clothes they can get dirty in each day. Each camper will receive a free apron for each registered camp week. Campers must bring their own bag lunch in a cooler bag and beverage. Zero Waste lunches are encouraged—be sure to use reusable containers! A morning snack and water cooler will be provided each day. If your child has food allergies or dietary restrictions, please plan to pack your own snacks.
Supervision and Grouping
Students will be grouped according to age with a paid teaching artist/staff member at no more than 15:1 ratio. In addition to our staff, we have teenage volunteers to support our staff. We do criminal background checks on all camp staff and volunteers. At various times in the day, groups may be together for some activities.
Camper Conduct & Safety
The staff of Resource Depot’s Junk Camp is committed to providing a loving, safe, enjoyable, and creative atmosphere for your child; however, campers are also responsible to assist in these efforts and follow the Camper Code of Conduct.
